I have an old satellite dvr box that I don't have service with. Is there a way to use the dvr feature with an antenna? Asked by suthrnflwr 40 months ago Similar questions: satellite dvr box service feature antenna Consumer Electronics.

Probably not But it would be a cool hack if it were possible. Here's why… satellite channels are not the same as broadcast or cable. You need a satellite tuner to receive satellite channels.
Some older satellite receivers has an input for an OTA antenna, but not any of the newer models that I have seen, although I think that the OTA input was simply switched through to the output (i.e. No tuner involved in the sat receiver). The other thing is that all the receiver expects to get program guides delivered from the satellite company in their proprietary format there is no OTA equivalent other than by internet, and the sat receiver would not recognize any of those without serious reprogramming..
No -my suggestion would be try selling you'r dvd-r box as is it no use to you now - suggestions where to sell 1. EBAY 2. IOFFER(A GOOD & DEPENDABLE PLACE FOR BUYERS & SELLERS) 3.
AMAZON(ALSO A GOOD PLACE TO SELL) &4.HALF. COM LOCATED IN EBAY Sources: My opinion .
1 I am guessing here but , I am fairly certain that the DVR function is dedicated to the sat. Signal -same as Tivo or cable , it records when it has a recording schedule and an over the air antenna will not supply one to the box. Of course it may work ,try It and see or the answer will always be no , worst thing that can happen is the answer is no after you try , so go ahead and see , as long as you don't have to invest in any equipment that might not work , of course you could always return the antenna.
Good luck.

2 probably not, as when you were paying for the service, you paid an additional fee to have the DVR in your home, and this fee covered scheduling for daily programming, etc. Your probably better off by dismantling the DVR and taking the computer harddrive out and using it in a home-built computer as mediacenter PC .

Can I connect my tivo series 2 dvr dvdr to cable box with hd dvr.
Can you watch directv dvr recorded shows without service.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
