I might lose my (full-time job) unemployment benefits in MA since I quit a part-time job that didn't work out. Help! I have been collecting unemployment benefits from when I lost my full-time job.
I took a part-time job, worked for two months, then left that job for ANOTHER part-time job in my previous profession, but it didn't work out. Now I've been told that I may lose my benefits! I've been told to expect a call from someone to explain what happened, but what do I say?
The first job was impossibly hot (a windowless, broken air conditioning store) then the second job involved my having to walk into a dangerous garage after midnight five nights a week... Neither was a workable situation. I'm trying, though! HELP!
Is that enough to convince the person that I should keep my previous benefits? Asked by Anonymous 30 months ago Similar questions: lose full time job unemployment benefits MA quit part time work Help Business > Jobs.

In this work climate, you'd have been better off walking into the dangerous garage and getting mugged. Then you could claim disability and have a "valid" reason for not going back to that job. The fact that you quit, even for your own safety, will likely work against you.
Quick, find another part-time job. Then take it from there.
" No. It isn't a matter of convincing anyone. Unemployment has strict rules and guidelines.
They don't care about you having to work in an unairconditioned building, or having to walk into a "dangerous" garage after midnight (didn't you know that before you took the job? ) Thousands of people work in really hot temperatures. Neither one of these issues make this job unworkable in the eyes of the unemployment people.
There are, right now ,thousands of people out there that are going to jump at the chance to get the job you walked out on. Anyway, here's the deal. You had a job.
You quit for no good reason. You better come up with a more convincing reason for quitting than "it was hot" before they call, or you are going to lose your benefits.
4 Uh, I do not think "It was too hot" and "It was too scary" are good enough reasons to quit working and still obtain your benefits. "Trying" would be working a a location until the AC got fixed. Not bailing because it was too warm.
LOL! Im going to guess that you are young. Welcome to the real world - where people work even if it is hot outside.(My office is located in the "Tenderloin" area of San Francisco.
When I go out to lunch, I have to dodge people shooting up heroin on the sidewalk...once, I had someone squeeze off a syringe full of heroin and blood at me, getting it on my shoes. People are mugged outside our doors all the time... Do you think I should quit and get UE benefits for that? ) .

Anonymous replied to post #3: 5 Dear Turbo BNoted, and like you, I am a law and order kind of person, but I'm not looking to win on philosophy here, I'm looking to win on POINTS. And OSHA has strict rules about air quality, and like I said, it was windowless and un-airconditioned and 85 degrees at 8am in stinking March in New England! Can you imagine what it will be like in July?
ALSO, I left that job to have a chance to return to my previous profession, one I had twenty years experience in, and NO I did NOT know that I had to walk into a dangerous garage after midnight when I took it. I was told I would "get a parking pass" and the hours were still being worked out. The specifics of WHERE I was to park were not yet clear.
I had taken public transportation in for the interview, so I didn't know exactly where I was going to park until I started training. Hope that clears up a few things.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
