One thing that I have learned by trial and error is that room colors need to flow and coordinate if the rooms are open or adjacent to each other. Since you have thyme in the family room, I would go with a deep taupe on the kitchen walls. It would bring out the white of your cabinets and the color in your granite and compliment the thyme.

I would accent the kitchen with thyme, merlot, and white in the kitchen curtains and with a few pictures or accessories on the wall. If you like wallpaper you can consider a wallpaper border in the kitchen that pulls all the colors together. Purple: aubergine Pink: pale rose Dark yellow green: advocodo Sage is more muted green with a light whitewash to it. Parsley is more along the lines of true green. Rosemary is midway between parsley, thyme and sage.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
