I need to learn about women working in the 1950'sdo you know of any good resources for this topic?

My daughter is doing an oral history project and needs to leran about women and working in the 1950's. She mainly needs sources to go to to gather information that will help her with the project. Here's an off-the-wall suggestion.... ...but since it's an oral history project, why don't you fix your daughter up with a tape recorder and have her go out and talk to women in their 70s, 80s, 90s who worked during the 50s. Y'all could print up flyers explaining the project, and ask for women to call up and arrange appointments to be interviewed. Likely places to hand the flyers on bulletin boards would be: Community centers with senior recreation programs.

Senior centers, if you have them in your area. Assisted living complexes and retirement complexes. Local AARP chapter (they might even have a newsletter which would be willing to run an article or blurb about the project.

Churches which sponsor senior activities. I'll bet your daughter will turn up quite a few women who would be happy to share their memories with her. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
