I studied pharmacology at university. Please ignore the person chatting about the half life of paracetamol as she has no idea what he is talking about. Paracetamol is actually a very dangerous drugs and is responsible for a large number of deaths each year.
The therapeutic dose of 2 x 500mg tablets, at least 4 hours apart, with no more than 8 tablets in a 24 period, is very close to the toxic dose which can be fatal. Taking even 2 extra in 24 hours can be dangerous and even fatal for some people. The overdose of antihistamines you took is also dangerous.
An overdose of paracetamol can cause liver failure. Initially you will not feel ill as the liver can be damaged without any physical symptoms. It is only when 80% of the liver is no longer working that symptoms occur and by then it is too late for the liver to be saved and the only hope is a transplant.
There is usually not enough time to find a new liver. In the days following a paracetamol overdose more and more of the liver is gradually damaged and symptoms start to show such as yellowing of the eyes and then the skin as a result of jaundice. The pain in the dying liver increases until it is so severe you are screaming.
You vomit violently and repeatedly and writhe in pain as your other organs begin to fail as a result of toxins building up in the blood. Your body swells as your kidneys fail and your skin is now bright yellow. When you are admitted to the intensive care ward you will want to die to end the agony.
Painkillers have no effect as your liver can no longer metabolise them. Death by paracetamol takes 2-3 weeks. I overdosed on co-codamol (paracetamol and codeine) a few years ago in a serious suicide attempt.
I was home alone and was unconscious for over 24 hours and it took me a few more hours to get to A&E. The doctors panicked when my blood results came back as my liver was already in bad shape. I was given the antidote even though it usually only works in the first 12 hours.
It took a few days but they saved me. If I had left it and stayed home I would have died. I had no idea my liver was in such a mess.
Please get some medical advice as you do not know if your liver is starting to fail. There are so many antihistamines that I don't know what risk they pose to your health. You obviously took the pills for a reason and you need to talk to someone about why you took them.
Please go to A&E and get your blood tested; you may also need your heart checking because of the antihistamines. Your GP can't help as the blood results take days if he does them and you need to know today. If you can't/won't go to hospital right away call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for medical advice from a nurse.
They are open 24 hours a day. You cannot avoid what has happened and hope it goes away. That is how people end up dying.
I hope you get some advice and see your GP to discuss your mental health. Best wishes, A x.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
