The site that timecadieux included looks like a great start. Since you're interested in writing horror, here are some bits of advice I've heard from various horror writers. 1.
If the story you're writing scares you, it will scare others. If it doesn't scare you, it probably won't scare readers. 2.
The most frightening things are those that you do not see, or only get glimpses of. 3. Tell your family not to surprise you while you're writing horror!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
