1) You're not old at all! I'm actually the same age as you. SM Entertainment has stated that people of all ages can audition for SM, but I think that they're currently taking teenagers between the ages of 12-18.
So you're not too young, nor too old. You're in a good age to audition, however, I suggest you audition at the age of 16. This is because 16 is the age when you are finished with your SATs or any kind of stuff that will help determine your college entrances to good ones.
Also, that way, your busy schedule as a trainee/singer/ the kind of job you want, wouldn't interfere with your test scores and studying time. The reason why Tiffany got less training than her members is because of two reasons: First, she auditioned at the age of 15, thus receiving less training. The rest of the members of SNSD auditioned at their childhood ages, and look what happened, they received training for a long time!
Second, she was talented. Even though she wasn't that good at dancing, she at least had some experience in singing. 2) I'm thinking JYP, because Sohee of Wonder Girls got picked through email audition, and she is the only idol to have been chosen through email audition so far.
But for SM and DSP, none have been chosen, so if you want to audition via email, try JYP first, then try SM and DSP. 3) For all of the entertainment companies: SM, DSP, and JYP, looks matter to them, especially SM. SM values 80% looks, and 20% talent.
For DSP and JYP, it's pretty much fifty-fifty. They won't force you to get plastic surgery, but they will try to persuade you to get it. You can always refuse, but sometimes you get kicked out.
It's happened sometimes in the entertainment industry. 4) Yes, because they don't want to listen to you singing the same song over and over again. It just bores the heck out of them.
They will ask you to sing a different song, so be sure to be prepared to sing another song. Here's a tip: Try to memorize at least 3 songs. I'm pretty sure there is 3 rounds at the moment, but they might change it.
So for the time being, just memorize 3 songs; one for each round. 5) Every entertainment is harsh, with SM being the harshest. SM works their artists to death just for money, which is why I'm sort of considering changing my choice of entertainment companies.
They also train their trainees very harshly, which is why many trainees drop out from the crowded schedules and harsh treatment. For JYP, they're a little bit more relaxed, but still harsh. One of the 2PM members once said in a TV show that after a few hours of non-stop training, their trainers won't let them drink water because he wanted to see how strong they are.
About DSP, I think they're more relaxed than JYP and SM, but did you see how skinny the members of KARA are? So I'm thinking they're the same as the others, but less harsh. 6) Yes, they will make you live in a dorm if you live far away from the building, especially if you live outside of Korea!
But if you live close to the building, then you can live at your own house, like Siwon of Super Junior, he got to stay at his house because he lived close to the SM building. 7) If you mess up badly, then they WILL beat you, but not hard enough to leave wounds, so it's mostly like a slap on the head or something. 8) Yes of course!
Korea is known for it's education, so if you don't know Korean, then they will send you to a foreign school, like an international school. But if you don't, then they will send you to a public school, because international schools are kinda expensive... 9) Yes, they will make you go on a strict diet, until they are satisfied with your weight and your look. Like they will make you go on a strict water diet.
10) I think so, but maybe it depends on the company. It's either you decide if you want to be in a band, or you want to debut as a solo singer. 11) Since you're 13, I'm guessing 4 or 5 or 6 years, because most idols debut at 17, 18, or 19.
But their are some setbacks to it. Like Lee Joon, SeungHo, and G.O. of MBLAQ. They debuted around the year of October and SeungHO and G.O. are both 24, while Lee Joon is 23.
So it mostly depends. 12) Yes, it's basically wake up, school, train, homework, sleep, then wake up, and it goes over and over again.
1. Am I too old? I know a lot of the idols start training at 7/8 and stuff, but I'm 13 and I know SNSD's Tiffany got in late training, but I'm still wondering.
-Are you kidding? I'm 16 years old and I know there are others training themselves and trying to make it...some of them are nearly 20. So no you're definitely not too old.
The reason SM wants you young is so they can brainwash you about surgery >. > But fame is guaranteed in SM...if you debut. JYP lets you have more freedom I guess.
6. Will they make me live in a dorm if I live far away from the building? -You'll be living in a dorm with other trainees.
7. Will they hit us? Like if we do something wrong, will they hit us?
If they do, is it hard..? -LOL. I'm not sure about this...I think they will. If you rebel and whatnot.
Just listen to them and do what they say.. I saw SHINee's manager hit a fan at the airport so I think they would be willing to hit trainees. Not to scare you or anything...just warning you. 8.
Will we still go to school during training? -If you want to. They'll pay school fees for you...if you wanna go to college, they'll let you too.
9. Will they make me lose weight if my body doesn't fit what they want? -Yep.
Heard of water diets? 10. Do I get to choose if I want to be in a group or solo?
-No idea...I'm wondering about this question too. 11. If I'm 13 now, about how many years will I need training?
I'm pretty good at dancing, and I have a vibrato in my voice. -If you can't speak Korean, it'll take longer. That's good...keep training by yourself for now.
12. How is dorm life like? Is it just train all day and wake up again and then train?
- I think so o. O Dorm...well you gotta share chores between other trainees in your dorm. (YAY) I would think after you arrive from school, train for 3-5 hours, have dinner and bed.
Lol >. > 13. Will we get any free time during training?
- They will give you some I'm sure...maybe to go out on the weekends? 14. I'm Korean, but I'm in the US and I know basic Korean but I'm not fluent.
Will they teach me? Or will I have to teach myself? Oops..I thought you weren't Korean.
It's good you know basic Korean. They'll teach you of course. You're lucky >.
> Most of us here are starting from scratch. Goodluck xD.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
