I was put on a home depot credit card as an authorized user. Am I responsible for the debt? They did not ask for my ss# I noticed my credit report had me liable for bad credit that is under someone else's name.

I did not know I was on the card as a user. They never took my ss#. He has filed chapter 7.

What can I do to get this off my credit report? I have already filed this with Transition. Home Depot is saying I am just as liable as he is.

Get a lawyer. You should not be liable for this debt. An authorized user is completely different than a joint cardholder.

For example, a 7 year old child can be an authorized user. A person with the lowest credit score , ever, can be an authorized user. The ONLY person responsible for the debt is the person who applied for it and was granted the credit.

Are you absolutely certain that Home Depot was never given your Social? It would be difficult for them to slap that on your credit report if they did not have your social. I would suggest double checking with the person who incurred the debt and make sure he never revealed your social to them, and if there is no question on that, you will need to try one more time to call Home Depot.

Ask for the highest manager you can get to and don't give up until you have gotten absolute confirmation that they say you are liable. If you are certain that you NEVER applied and that he NEVER gave them your social, I'd drop the words "lawsuit" on the Home Depot people just for the heck of it, to see if they act scared. If they continue with this... After that, I'd contact a lawyer.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
