If harry and voldemort were still connected by blood wouldn't Harry have died when voldemort was killed? this made no snese to me?

Harry and Voldemort does not share any blood relation between them. However, the scar left on Harry's forehead causes Harry to have certain talents which Voldemort such as able to speak to snakes.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
