If you read Revelation you will find that the 144,000 people it refers to are all Jewish men: 12, ooo from each of the twelve tribes of Israel, 'unpolluted' by fornication with women. They will inhabit the New Jerusalem (personified as 'Christ's Bride') which will descend from the heavens much like the alien mothership at the end of, 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'.
The Gentiles that aid and abet the Jews in bringing all this about: the 'Whore of Babylon' (IE the Roman Empire) must first be destroyed for all this to happen, will be permitted to walk the streets of this fabulous, bejeweled city for only three and a half years.
As you can see this 'heaven on Earth' will be a pretty exclusive kind of club to which straight atheist guys like myself needn't apply for membership.
But then I don't think I would want to anyway.
I wrote a hub on biblical numbers where I explained the 144,000. I think it is worth a read.
My answer got a bit long...so it's now a hub found at: hubpages.com/hub/The-Truth-of-the-144-000-o.
I have tried to find were, in the Lord's prayer, you found that s Kingdom will be on the earth, but I can't find it!
Let thy KINGDOM come; thy Will be done upon Earth, even as in Heaven". (Emphatic Diaglott).
I also tryed The American Standard Version. It says.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
All I can see is that God's will includes both heaven and earth.
And about the 144 000, they will rule as kings and priest with Jesus in heaven. You can read about them in Revelation 7:4, and in verse 9 you can read.
After these things I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and toungues, standing BEFORE the throne and BEFORE the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in ther hands.
Thus saith Jehovah, Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool...
So, if this "great multitude" were standing BEFORE the throne, they must be on the "footstool". Right?
Then back o the Lord's prayer.. This must tell us that people will live here on earth in peace and happiness. And a lot of other verses in the Bible tells us the same.
Its a convincing hoax that has been purported upon mankind. There are billions of blind faith believers who will follow these religious leaders to the end. They justify issues in the story line with generalization and rationalizations.
The 144,000 that is mentioned in revelations, is speaking of the 144,000 that will remain after the church is snatched away during the time of tribulation. They will remain to preach the word of God to give still some that have not yet had the opportunity to accept or reject Christ, the opportunity to do so.
Also, The Lords prayer does not ask that his kingdom be on earth as it is in heaven! It asks that his will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Very interesting and very plausible since we need people who were humans in the flesh but will be in the spirit to be able to gouvern and understand us as humans, as angels cannot understand who we are and Paul said that we would even judge the angels..which means we are made above them.
Thanks all for your wonderful responses..I appreciate very much .
The 144,000 Jews / Israelites who are sealed in Revelation 7:4-8 are sealed for the specific purpose of being “evangelists” during the Tribulation period. The sealing provides protection from the plagues and devastation brought on by the trumpet and bowl judgments, as well as from the wrath of the Antichrist. The 144,000 is not a limit to how many people will be saved, but rather is just a select group of Jewish believers called to proclaim God’s message during the end times.
There will be perhaps millions of other converts during the Tribulation, most of them a result of the 144,000’s ministry. The number 144,000 represents 12,000 soulwinners from each of the 12 tribes of Israel.
The Jehovah Witnesses pervert this Biblical teaching by claiming that only 144,000 will enter into Heaven. There is nothing in the Word of God teaching any such nonsense. John said that the number of believers he saw in Heaven were innumerable, "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number..." Clearly, the Word of God does not teach that only 144,000 souls will go to Heaven.
144,000 people will experience the birth of Christ from above.
(Before something "big" happens. Around 2012 I figure ;o).
Most importantly we should realize that this is the rebirth of God who has been sleeping in YOU. The authors of the bible experienced the same thing and described it IN THE FORM OF AN ALLEGORICAL STORY.
According to the book of Revelation, the 144,000 are Jews from each of the 12 tribes of Israel. It's not referring to the total that are living on earth.
Bible prophecy is a very deep subject and can't be touched on superficially. It has taken me years and years of study to even scratch the surface of it.
I have no idea, but God understands it and I trust m that He will some day help me to understand.
Till then, I'm sticking to the good old simplicity of "Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. " This is tough enough for now, but also requires a knowledge of not just Jesus words, but a knowledge of Jesus If you really really want to understand something from the Bible, bug Meditate on it and ask him for an open and honest heart. It may take awhile, but you will get an answer.
I would like to invite you to read my hub, "The Elect of God" that may at least open your understanding to who the 144,000 are. What they are NOT are certain ones from denominations that make such claims (i.e. Jehovah's Witnesses, and apparently, Seventh Day Adventists).
They are of the 12 tribes of Israel (Rev 7:4-8) and come out of the Great Tribulation (Rev 7:3), which has not happened yet. No where does the Bible state they are the only ones going to 'heaven' (look at Rev 7:9).
Heaven, or Paradise, is the dwelling place for the souls of believers until the first resurrection (of the body). Sheol/Hades is the dwelling place for souls of unbelievers until the second resurrection (of the body). This is covered in my hub "Beyond Death: What The Bible Says".
The Apostle Paul said that we are absent from the body and present with the Lord (2 Cor 5:8). If soul sleep (another false doctrine by these denominations and others) were true, we would NEVER be absent from the body, but stay with it until we are resurrected. That's not what the Bible says.
If you read Rev Chapters 19-22, between the first and second resurrections is the thousand-year reign (which begins at the end of the Great Tribulation). Those who are believers, raised in the first resurrection, reign with Christ for the millennia. After the millennia and the destruction of all evil to the Lake of Fire (Geenna), the New Heaven and New Earth are made manifest - the New Jerusalem comes down from heaven, and the saints will dwell in the presence of God on this New Earth, going in and out of the New Jerusalem forever.
One last thing to consider, friends, is that if you read the very beginning verse of the book of A REVELATION, you can see a clearifying statement that helps us to understand that this is a word picture presented in signs (or symbols). So that will change the whole dynamics of this exciting climax to the greatest book on earth. If you have a bible the uses cross-referencing such as many do now, you can start searching for clues this way also as the book is tied to and explains many questions people have had for centuries about the meaning of the scriptures.
For example, cross-reference Rev.1:6 and Luke 22:28-30 which speaks about the Covenant Jesus makes with his disciples to be a KINGDOM with HIM to HIS God and Father. Seek, and you will find!
000 are those that follow the lamb being Jesus no matter how hard it may be revelation14:1,4 these ones would be faithfull followers of Jesus chirst specially choicen by him to rule with him in heaven where he returned shortly after death acts 2:33 the first to join jesus in heaven were his apostles 2 timothy 2:22.
Since than faithful ones have been chosen the kingdom is gods goverment and his king is jesus it it rules from heaven over the earth tht is why in 2 timothy 4:18.
The 144,000 mentioned in the Bible are holle one that we rule with jesus in the heaven, they are sellected from among mankind is not every one that we be sellected. According to Bible at Rev. 14 vs 4-5 describ tham as holle one people that did not defile themsalves with woman infact are vigine.
No Falsehood was found in their months and they are without blemish. You can see the type of people that we at heaven rulling with Jesus is not anyhow peoson.
And the other one that did was is good in God's eye we inherite the each they we posses the earth and the evil dowers will by no means be found on earth.
We we enjoy the earth when wip out tears, no sorrow and death will be no more.
The 144,000 you refer to is the Jewish remnant that God will preserve of Jesus will reign on this earth with the saints (believers) for 1000 years (millenial reign). The 144,000 will be present at that time. You really need to back up a bit.
First the Lord will take s believers out of here (the rapture). There will be the rise of the antichrist and 7 years of tribulation on earth. The 144,000 will be preserved at the end of the 7 years of tribulation.
The Lord will come back with s saints for the millenial reign, satan will be bound for 1000 years after which time he will be loosed for a little while. He will lead the remaining unbelievers against the Lord. Jesus will destroy them and satan will be thrown in the lake of fire.
In the middle of Great Tribulation 144.000 Jews believers will be caught up. But entire Israel will be saved after. The same time the church is gone on the beginning.
During the Tribulation also gentiles will come to Lord. But they will be persecuted.
Then the Lord will come back on earth with all saints and will set 1000 years Kingdom will exist for Millennium.
The rapture is more myth than fact... and the 144.000 are a remnant of each of the twelve tribes, (12000 x 12 = 144000).
The 144,000 belief is the doctrine of EGWhite to seventh day adventist where she was one of the founder of this denomination. I do not believe that because this is meant to be for the tribe of Israel only but there is a great multitude mention too. And I hope that I will be included there.
This earth is not the kind of Kingdom where the redeemed people will live but a new heaven and a new earth saw by Apostle John in his Vision in the book of revelation coming down from heaven. This earth full of dirt and sins will pass away as mentioned too in the book of revelation and will be replaced by a new heaven and new earth when Jesus Christ returns.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
