If the Flood was just local, as many theists claim, why didn't God just tell Noah to go to Egypt for a year?

Well, he probably did but Noah had always wanted to build a boat. He had been fascinated with boats ever since he saw one on the Black Sea when he was a boy.

You have fallen for the exaggeration and embellishment of Egyptian history. Geological Evidence: 1) There is a mass fossil graveyard found all over the world throughout many layers of sediment that has solidified into sedimentary rock. Fossils are created when living organisms are rapidly buried with great pressure applied afterward.

A common way fossils are created is by flood waters carrying large quantities of sediment, burying everything in its path. 2) Marine fossils are found high up in every mountain range of the world. 3) Marine fossils are found together with fossils of land animals.

This is unusual since they live in different environments from one another and are not normally found together. 4) Whale bones have been discovered buried hundreds of feet above sea level. One whale has even been discovered buried in the vertical position.5) Fossils are found in all different situations of life: eating, giving birth, fighting, etc.This may remind you of the Bible verse……Matthew 24: 38-39.

The bible doesn't say local, that's just the opinions of christians trying to convert delusion into making sense.

Their was a local flood of the Black Sea. That much is a fact. It is not a far cry to say that some man who lived in an area which was flooded survived and passed on the tale, and it was written into the Bible.

But like most oral stories of this nature from the era, the facts changed with time. Maybe the man had a large boat already, and when he saw the flood waters, he put his family and a couple of farm animals on it to save them? That could easily be exaggerated over a century to be a man carrying every animal in the world.

Because Noahs job was to help save the local animals so they can breed again.

I do not know the specifics of the story, but if Noah was Hebrew, like Moses, than going to Egypt would mean persecution and enslavement. To protect him from these things, as well as the flood, the most efficient way was to build a boat to survive the local flood (in God's / Noah's eyes).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
