My friend came to me and told me she was contemplating taking her own life. I told her, "Man, why would you want to be so cruel to your parents?" She said, "They don't really care about me.
" I replied, "I know that. But think of all the credit debt you would stick them with!" You see my friend is 26 years old and in over $30,000 in credit debt.
I explained to her that if she were to die her debt would be transferred to her parents and they would have to pay it off. She came to her sense and is now determined to pay off her debt before she kills herself. But, that got me wondering what a good way to really stick it to somebody.
Rack up a bunch of debt on your credit cards and then off yourself leaving them with that debt in your will. If that was an option who would you like to make pay for all their wrong doings against you. They'd be stuck for years trying to struggle to get back on their feet while the whole time you could be looking up and laughing at them!

Ah, not here you can't You cannot pass on debt to someone else. When you die your debts die with you. I suggest you steer your friend to some counseling.
And to a bankruptcy attorney. Bankruptcy is a perfectly legal way to start one's life again free of debt. Not a first resort, but certainly better than living or dying in debt..
Um, you are incorrct - unless her parents co-signed for her debt, then her debt would not go to her parents. She is an adult. You can not leave debt in a will.
The debt will be offest against any assets, if there are any, if the creditors file with the executor of the will, otherwise the creditors just eat the debt. Unless you are married, it doesn't work that way. Legally, you can not make anyone else responisble for your debts. If you die, they may come after your estate, if it is worth going after.
If you are down there, you will not be laughing. People down in hell are not happy and if you were to commit suicide, it will be a waste. Furthermore, it that was true, everyone would commit suicide to spite another by willing their debts and then there will be no room down there.
And when my time comes, I will be so lonely up there. Then I will wait until everyone dies and rack up debts of my own and in my will, they will have to pay it. So, i, too, will go down there with everybody else and I won't be lonely..
1 Rather an extraordinary way to laugh at anyone - sinking your own ship! I sometimes think of this too at my age of 70, of who is going to inherit what I have and what becomes of the rest but will have to cross that bridge when I get there. Have no idea who I'd leave my debts to.
Must phone Visa and ask about their rule on it, so thanks for this reminder. ;-) .

Relative asking to for 30K loan for credit card debt, not the first time.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
