If your child is sick, at what point should you keep them home from school?

It could be really difficult sometimes to know when to keep a child home from school. But there are some signs and symptoms that should not be ignored. Here are some signs and symptoms that show that a child is too ill to be sent to school; *When a child has a cough that does not make him concentrate *When a child has a feverish condition *When a child’s underarm temperature is greater than 100°F.

*When a child is short of breath or wheezes frequently. *When a child has earaches, sore throat or just had an injury. * When a child looks exhausted and needs rest *When a child shows other flu symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea and headaches.

*When there is a green or yellow drainage from a child’s eye. *When a child has an outbreak of rash. *When a child has a contagious disease, such as impetigo and conjunctivitis.

These are some of the common signs that can help a parent decide when to keep a child at home.

It would depend on my child and the circumstances. We homeschool now so it’s really an issue for us any longer but when I did send him I was very cautious about when I would send him and when he would stay home. I can usually tell by his eyes (my son’s eyes will get kind of dull looking when he is really sick, but not when he is "faking" it to get out of something).

When in doubt he would stay home; my son has excellent hand washing and has been taught courteous coughing. You can't keep them home for every little thing, but they can be quite sick and not have a fever so you have to judge case-by-case. Anything with a fever, they should stay home, obviously.

I would base how sick by their overall appearance and behavior. I wouldn't keep my son home for say the sniffles because I live in Alaska, kids have the sniffles pretty much all winter long, it's just a fact of that season. However usually if a sickness is affecting overall behavior it is bad enough in my book to warrant a lazy day.

One day of missed school won’t hurt much. I just hope my boys grow up following my insistent need for the truth and do not get in a habit of fooling me. Hard to tell at the moment their only one year ten months and six months.

Thus far their pretty honest. The older one will come tell me when he’s done something wrong. Lol.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
