If you've had HPV before, can you get it again?

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted disease that infects sexually active humans. This virus infects the skin of humans or mucuous membranes. Most people who are infected with HPV often do not show any symptoms.

However, HPV does cause infections such as genital warts and in some cases, cancer of the reproductive systems. Currently, there is no cure for HPV. As such, if you are diagnosed to have HPV, chances are you will not be cured of the virus. In younger females, infections caused by HPV are temporary – if you get genital warts, it will go away on its own after a few days, or aided by over-the-counter topical creams and medication.

Even though the infection clears though, this does not guarantee that you will not get another infection. Sources: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_papillomavirus cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv.htm" rel="nofollow">cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv.htm cdc.gov/std/hpv.
