I'm looking for a sci-fi/fantasy type book I read as a kid but I can't remember the title or author?

I'm looking for a sci-fi/fantasy type book I read as a kid but I can't remember the title or author! It's set in a sword & sorcery type land which turns out to be a post-apocalyptic version of our world - ( I think ) - the hero discovers weapons from the 'old' inhabitants of the world - these turn out to be tanks & missiles. It also features Demons or Djinns who hide their souls from their enemies ( one hides his in the crest of a wave ) That's all I can remember - thanks for any help.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
