I'm lookinig for main dish or dessert recipes that cook in a long slow oven, and make a large amount. I've recently made cassolet, which is ideal for what I'm thinking about--3-4 hours in a 300 degree oven, and I love my recipe for Indian Pudding. What else can I cook that will let me heat up that end of the house while cooking dinner at the same time?

To do ribs right they need to be done low and slow. You can take some babybacks, sprinkle some dry rub on both sides, double wrap in heavy foil and cook at 275 for 3 1/2 hours. Then take them out but leave them in the foil with the foil unwrapped and the ribs laying on it.
Put back in for another hour, they should come out tender and taste great. You will know when they are done when the meat starts pulling back from the ends of the bones..
Oh have I found some lists of recipes for you! http://www.slowfoodsuperior.ca/recipes.php?type=mainhttp://www.slowfoodsuperior.ca/recipes.php?type=beefhttp://www.slowfoodsuperior.ca/recipes.php?type=dessert! The recipes here are AWESOME!
I'm a slow cooking lover, for the same reason as you - HEAT UP THAT END OF THE HOME! And I've sampled a few of these recipes already and they are SCRUMPTIOUS! And warm :) Sources: Links inside .
My Dutch Oven Cooks at 300 Degrees I am not sure if my recipes will work for you, but I cook in a cast iron dutch oven on top of my woodburning stove. You can see some of my experiences by clicking here. I put my items inside the dutch oven on a rack to bake and the temperature gets up to about 300 degrees inside.
I have found that quite a few cakes and pies can be cooked at this low temperature. The difficulty I have is top browning, so things like pineapple upside-down cake and an apple-nut cake (I call it Cabin Cake) do well. My pies do OK, but they come out crispier on the bottom than the top.
The taste is still good. I just tried a rustic apple cake version without a top crust that came pretty good. At least my husband wolfed it down in one evening if that means anything.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
