In the U.S., before the VS. channel showed their first game, they aired a history of hockey docu. about 6 hours long. anyone know the name?

I found a CBC miniseries documentary called The New Ice Age: A Year in the Life of the NHL which aired in 1997-98. It seems that there is also a book of the same name, based on the documentary.
