The republican party, in my opinion, has no idea what they believe, except that they hate democrats and love saying "no. " Traditionally, however, being a republican meant that you valued the right of individual states to govern themselves primarily, and wanted the federal government to have a more hands-off approach. Republicans liked a weak federal government and a more powerful state in order to allow the people in those areas to have a stronger voice in the way they lived (i.e.
If you lived in a state that was against gay marriage, the federal government wouldn't be able to step in and help the minority secure that right). Republicans like to say they are fiscally conservative, spending as little money as possible on social programs. They tend to be against welfare, subsidized health-care, etc (though they generally support social security and Medicare, because those are well-loved programs by most people, as most people expect to eventually use them).
Republicans often advocate for "pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps," though their actions do not always comply with that sentiment (most "red" states in the US are largely subsidized by "blue" state taxes, as liberal states tend to earn more money). Republicans in the US also tend to be socially conservative (though there are many people who vote Republican who are socially liberal and fiscally conservative). Republicans tend to be against marriage equality and homosexual rights, generally advocate for a blending of church and state (provided the church in question is Christian), and of late (post 9-11), they have been advocating for restricting freedoms in favor of safety (as in, supporting warrantless wire-tapping programs and holding prisoners without trials).
Republicans claim (view the GOP's website here: http://www.gop.com/index.php/learn/what_we_believe/) that they believe in hard work and individual freedom. They also claim that they believe in the free market. In my opinion, they have actually shown with their actions that they believe that the rich and powerful should stand on the shoulders of the poor, but feel free to explore their site and learn about their "values" in their own language. It should be noted that when this country was founded, "Republicans" favored federal power, and "Democrats" favored state power.
As such, Lincoln was a "Republican" but would today be called a Democrat, as he believed the federal government had the right to demand that states comply with the will of the greater nation. This site is sort of a tongue-in-cheek way of explaining some core differences: http://www.americanpolitics.com/030499dictionary.html.
The Republican Party feels that they strongly represent individual rights and freedoms. They state that Small government is more desireable for our personal freedoms. They believe that low taxes and free markets improve jop opportunities and economic stability.

Energy independence that includes developing renuable and non-renuable energies while opposing cap and trade legislation that would limit jobs and raise energy costs.
They support free market economy as encouraging confidence in the market. They oppose government control of industry. gop.com/index.php/learn/issues.
My humble opinion, these guys have one core value...and that is to stay in office as long as possible, with the intent of making it a career. It varies a bit, especially between what they preach and what they practice. The Republicans claim to be pro market and for smaller government, in reality they grow the governments size and are pro certain buisnesses, not the market.
Give a man a fish, and you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish, and you have fed him for life.
Without writing a book, the Republican party is about tradition and religious values.
National structure of our party starts with the Republican National Committee. Each state has its own Republican State Committee with a Chairman and staff. Most states ask voters when they register to express party preference.
Voters they want to be sure vote on Election Day. Tickets, voting for candidates in both parties. Up of all registered Republicans in all 50 states.
Of the party. Entitled to equal rights; and decisions are best made close to home. The symbol of the Republican Party is the elephant.
President Grant would seek to run for an unprecedented third term. A Republican elephant - and both symbols stuck. Push people to support the causes of the Republican Party.

Without writing a book, the Democratic party is about progressive thinking, change toward a better society regardless of religious implications about those particular issues.
My humble opinion, these guys have one core value...and that is to stay in office as long as possible, with the intent of making it a career. It varies a bit, especially between what they preach and what they practice. Democrats claim to be pro personal freedom and expression, but only if you think their way, if not then what you say and think becomes a crime.
The Green Party of the United States is a federation of state Green Parties. Being a member of this party means that you are willing to challenge the powerful corporate interests that dominates the present Washington politics. Among the core values of this party is participatory Democracy, Social Justice and Economic & Ecological sustainability.
-quote- "The Green Party of the United States is a federation of state Green Parties. Committed to environmentalism, non-violence, social justice and grassroots organizing, Greens are renewing democracy without the support of corporate donors. Greens provide real solutions for real problems.
Whether the issue is universal health care, corporate globalization, alternative energy, election reform or decent, living wages for workers, Greens have the courage and independence necessary to take on the powerful corporate interests. As in nature, where adaptation and diversity provide key strategies through which life flourishes, a successful political strategy is one that is diverse, adaptable to changing needs, and strong and resilient in its core values: o Participatory Democracy, rooted in community practice at the grassroots level and informing every level, from the local to the international. O Social Justice and Equal Opportunity emphasizing personal and social responsibility, accountability, and an informing ethic of Nonviolence.
O Ecological and Economic Sustainability, balancing the interests of a regulated market economy and community-based economics with effective care for the Great Economy in which we are embedded: the ecosystems of the Earth. " -end of quote.
The green party is a fringe third party organization with a few dedicated members. They have a lot of ideas, but there is no implementation and little progress. They have this manifesto of "key values", but surprisingly, it hasn't been updated in 10 years.
gp.org/tenkey.shtml Ten Key Values of the Green Party Originally ratified at the Green Party Convention in Denver, CO, June 2000. 1. GRASSROOTS DEMOCRACY (essentially, everyone should be in government, not just elites) 2.
SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY (they say treat everyone fair, no matter what. ) 3. ECOLOGICAL WISDOM (you know, hug a tree) 4.
NON-VIOLENCE (when someone attacks you, try to understand why and help them) 5. DECENTRALIZATION (redistribute wealth and power) 6. COMMUNITY-BASED ECONOMICS AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE (see above) 7. FEMINISM AND GENDER EQUITY (see #2) 8.
RESPECT FOR DIVERSITY (see #2) 9. PERSONAL AND GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY (see #4) 10. FUTURE FOCUS AND SUSTAINABILITY (so you don't have to be responsible for the now) Really, what a mish mash of ideas.
But very little that seems effective or useful to everyday life. Platitudes, rather than effectiveness. Like the ultra right wing conservatives (hey, I am over on the right, but not that far) who still wonder why anyone would want to carry a phone around all the time.
The Green Party is a liberal organization that focuses strongly on public involvement in political decision making. They believe in equal oportunity regulation. They believe in strong environmental policy.
Distrobution of wealth. Decentralization of goverment focused on smaller more local government. gp.org/tenkey.shtml Here are what they highlight as the differences between Green party, Democrats, and Republicans.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
