No I think most are sincere in their compliments, as most here really like to write and can express themselves really well. We are a group that is big on discussing things, and compliments are part of that discussion. I've also used them when I feel someone has really taken a step out on a limb with a controversial opinion--it helps to know that someone agrees with your and respects you, so it's nice to get a little feedback or compliment to know that when you've been "controversial" that you are not alone in your thinking.

I suppose there are some that might feel that if they "kiss up" to others, then the others will like them better and will be easier on them when it comes to ratings. But I don't think that is necessarily true here. There are too many other variables here to effect it.

You should give compliments when someone says something helpful or insightful or asks a really good question or just posts a really great comment. Why? Because it's NICE.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
