Zen Buddhism, in my opinion. -It was founded around 600CE in China, although Theravada Buddhism had been around since 500BCE -Zen -I believe it is the best because it lacks the belief in devas, gods, goddesses, faith, and reliance on scripture -It's lack of the belief in the supernatural makes it better imo, and it blends aspects of Daoism, another peaceful nature-based religion from China. -I'm not a Buddhist, but I try to apply aspects of zen practice in my life.
I've found them to be helpful. -It is scientific in that it is based on one's observations of nature and it's principles are based on such observations. -I suppose it is free.
-There is no belief, it is more of a practice than anything. -Benefits would include discipline, patience, understanding, compassion, self-discovery, and happiness -Once again, does not need to be proven truthful, it is a philosophy that has existed thousands of years and is just now taking hold in the west too. People of all religions or lack there of can apply zen to their life.
-"Tame your mind" -the Buddha; "If I am asked what zen teaches, I would answer zen teaches nothing" -DT Suzuki; "what is the ultimate principle of Buddhism? The Cypress tree in the courtyard" -Joshu No master lords or deities. It started in India, with one of the Buddha's desciples named mahakasyapa who passed his teaching on to a monk named Bodhidharma, who then passed the teaching on to China, where it was then passed to Japan where "Zen" in it's modern form began.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
