Yes it is possible to install Mac OS X on a PC. People are doing it on netbooks all the time. Now your exact setup I don't know for sure.
You would have to check hacking sites. I see you want to install on VMware or anther VM software. Apple has made it clear that they don't want this so the VM clients will not be offering this.
If I wanted to still try this I would tell the VM that the client/guest OS was Darwin or some from of UNIX/BSD. This is because Mac OS X is BSD Darwin under the GUI. Good luck with this.
I recommend that you don't bother installing Mac OS X on a PC. It will be buggie and if you manage to get it to work perfectly Apple could come out with an update that messes it up. Just look at the Palm Pre and the iTunes sinking issue.
Apple will stop all the Mac Clone someday. It maybe more hassle then it's worth. Might I recommend you buy a Mac.
Yes I know you just want to check it out. But I would buy a cheaper or older Mac to play around with. I have done this myself.
I really like my Mac but it is not perfect. I'm not a fan boy but there are some nice things to a Mac that make it different. The only thing I don't like is the Finder, which is Mac version of Windows Explorer.
If you do get a Mac buy a Mac Mini, because it's the cheapest Mac they have. A lot of people use the Mini as a media server. They use it the way they wish the Apple TV worked. So this way if later you decide that you hate or dislike Macs.
At least you have a quiet and small machine/media server to display all your HD, video, music, or other content on you big screen TV in the living room. I found a lot of likes on google use these search terms: os x on pcs os x hackintosh I hope this is useful, if you need me to give more info just reply.
It is not directly possible to install Mac OSX on a PC. But using emulators which feels the Mac OS X Installer that it is a Mac, you can install it.
Edwardclint how did you do it pls share the whole process step by step. It will be very kind of you if you do so!
You need to run it in a virtual machine like VMware or Virtualbox. OSX will not install on non_Apple hardware. You should have no problem running it as a virtual machine on the hardware you have.
I run Win2K and XP on a virtual machine in Linux, and I also run a Linux vm within XP, all on lesser hardware than yours.
