Is it possible to send Twitter updates using Lua? Can Lua do POST methods?

I'm not familiar with programming using Lua. However, I managed to find some information if it possible to send Twitter updates using Lua. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
