Is it possible to setup two wireless routers and keep everything behind the second router hidden from anything on the first router?

The answers given so far are generally correct, but I've found that the following article by Steve Gibson covers, as completely as any other, the issue of multiple LANs and NAT-router firewalls. grc.com/nat/nat.htm.

The ability to do this does require alot of pre-requisite knowledge and some experience with ip computer networking. There is no simple way to do this if you want to do it properlyI can see what you are trying to do and it can be done. This solution does depend on the capabilities of the routers you have, since you have not specified im going to go with a couple of generic routers and a couple of switches (you may have some consumer grade routers that have some switch ports on them already)Firstly take router 1 connect it to your cable/DSL modem and the other end to a switch, then connect your parents computers to the switch and configure them to access the internet.

Next take Router 2 and plug the port from that that is normally used to connect to the cable/DSL modem to the switch that has your parents computers on. Then plug the second switch into this second routers other port and plug your computer into itYou will then need to log into router 2 and configure its ip address on the port connected to switch 1 to either receive auto or you will need to set it to the same ip address range as the computers sitting on switch 1, you will need to give it a default gateway of the internal ip address of router 1. This will route all traffic to from your network through your parents network.

The final stage to apply the restrictions is configure router 2 to only receive packets of data from the MAC address of router 1If what I have said makes no sense please refer to the links below, or consider a solution of just installing a good firewall on your computer and denying any traffic from the IP addresses of your parents computers.

I have a partial answer for you. Yes you can hook up 2 routers together, but it's not really necessary, and I don't know how to do it the way you are suggesting. Though I think it's possible.

Any kind of protective software you have on your router and on your computer will protect you. Even if a hacker (slim chances unless your parents have something worth stealing) hacks into your parents computer, they shouldn't be able to get into yours if you have a firewall up and a decent anti-virus/security program. Your router has a firewall and security options as well.

If you make your network secure you're fairly well protected. The only way they can hack into your comp from your parents is if you have the "share" options on. If you share any folders or printers or anything.

Even with that, they'd have to be leet hackers to get anything worth while. THe biggest security risks people have are downloading viruses or freely giving up personal information. THe chances of your comp getting hi-jacked by a random hacker are extremely slim.

Unless you're a gov't employee, multi-billionaire or another hacker. Here's a really good FREE anti-virus program that'll keep you and your parents reasonably safe.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
