Is it worth switching careers from my current job to being a Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practicioner?

I currently work in corporate America as a corporate analyst ... deep research on corporations and their competitive strategies. I have had a lot of interest in medicine for about twenty years. In the early 1980's I was an EMT/Paramedic and I have kept up on the knowledge since then. I am 41 and nearing an early retirement.

I make over $120,000. Would it be worth my while to train to be a PA or Nurse Practicioner? I love emergency medicine, so that's where I'd focus.

Money is a fool's errand... You have an opportunity to find your vocation (your calling) and you have an idea what that is. You have money. You can either keep doing something without passion that pays well, or you can give something back and mean something to someone.

Shame on you for even asking. This is a no-brainer. Follow your heart.Do what you think is best.

You are young, probably quite bright and have a lot to offer. Not only that, someone who wants to do your job is waiting in the wings--so you cause not only your own frustration but that of someone else. Life isn't a spreadsheet.

Go where you are needed. Do what is needed. Find out how to matter.

Act. If you don't you might find a sort of oblivious happiness but not a meaningful one. Who can respect a person who doesn't follow their dreams?

So few have the opportunity to do so. I walked away from corporate America to get a PhD and to teach. Best decision I ever made even though I have debts, money troubles, etc. That I never had.

Why? Because I love my life and those who love me now have a chance to see who I am. Be responsible within reason but don't let your life be about money.

Follow your heart. It sounds like you really love the medical field. It will cost you time and money to switch, but if you have an opportunity to do what you love, you should always do it if you can financially survive.

Sources: My opinion.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
