Physician assistant (PA ) VS. registered nurse (RN)?

To be a doctor/physician, you don't have to be near genius or have a high IQ. There are people who are great at memorizing and getting the right grades on their exams, but they don't have a bit of common sense in them. I call these individuals "book smart", but they are not "practice smart".

Applying what you have learned to practice is really what is most important when you look at jobs like nursing and being a physician. And the really good RN's, have great critical thinking skills and are assertive. I have seen situations where it was the RN who saved the day.........or a Pharmacist who realized the med order written by a physician was wrong.

In the health care field, I think that being an RN is tough because they are the ones with the patient and providing that overall care and managing the care.....they notice things that saves patients lives. I know a lady whose mom had cardiac surgery, and the doctor maybe saw her mother for like a hot minute after the surgery.....it was the RN who took the heat and advocated for the doctor to get his happy little tale into her mother's room to answer questions the patient had. It all boils down to the type of healthcare work you want to do.

Some people prefer seeing patients for 15 minutes.......whereas others prefer hands on and providing overall care/management of patients. It is best to figure out your personality, your interests and to read up on the different job responsibilities.

Being a PA vs. a MD is not any less intense, so don't already doubt your "IQ." RN's have 2-4 years of training and are awarded diplomas, associate or bachelors degrees depending where you attend. PA's hold a Master's degree typically in physician assistant studies.

RN's make about $50,000+/yr where I live and PA's start at over $100,000/yr. So you decide. Nonetheless RN and PA school are very hard, you MUST be determined, focused and disciplined!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
