If you are wanting to travel to other countries and do medical missions, then you need to look at RN and MD/DO/DPM. While there are programs that NPs and PAs can work with, if it's incredibly important to do mission work, then doing so as an RN or physician is the safest bet. And of those, the Physician will have the most opportunities to do a medical mission on his terms.
If you want to be a physician and you have the umph to get it done, then go for it. Get a patient care certificate NOW and get your patient care experience and resume going. Look at CNA, MA, and Phlebotomy programs (for example) and then put your certificate to work eithe via paid jobs or via volunteer work.
You can get certified for many of these short courses at 16, 17, or 18. If you start getting into higher science and math classes and aren't cutting it, then you can start looking at nursing programs and NP programs. Just be careful that you don't get into a situation where you feel like you are "settling" and that you "could have been more".
RN and NP are great jobs that take a special kind of person, but if you are the type of person who is going to feel like you know more than the doc or that you could have been a doc had you not flunked Organic Chem because of some frat party you went to, you will have a tough time. Entitled nurses don't last long in the best positions.
The dude! Okay so here I go............ It depends on what factors you are looking for. (money, time off from work, duties and responsibilities at the hospital or clinic, credentials and respect and employment outlook.
First of all they all have great employment outlooks, some more than others yes but all looks pretty good so here you go. Physicians CONS 4 yrs college, 4 yrs med school, 3-5 yrs residency(depending on your specialty) when you finish your extensive training and education it does get easier financially but not time wise. Physicians have long hours and busy work lives so if you are someone who wants to enjoy friends and family and life this may not be right for you.
High stress at work. Med school is competitive. PROS $$$$$$ considerably more than any other medical profession you mentioned.
A lot of duties and responsibilities and looked up to as patients with high regard. Physician assistant CONS Very competitive to get into PA school, and you don’t get as much money as doctors, high stress at work. PROS Good money, more than a nurse but less than a doctor.
Fair amount of education 4 yrs college 2 yes of PA school. Great hours and you will find time for social and work life. Same responsibilities of doctors and more freedom to switch specialties.
Nurse Pros 4yrs college, not long at all. Good money. You make a difference in patients lives.
You are the pillars of a hospital. Great working conditions. Cons YOU change bedpans and clean people up so it may be a bit gross for you.
Some nurses not all get treated not the best by doctors.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
