Is the United Kingdom considered a poorly developed country?

The UK actually has a way better economy than the US and the standard of living over here is probably better than the US because our economy isn't as bad as yours.

Depends, personally I don't know exactly what criteria suggests a country meets 3rd world standards. I think common sense dictates that there's enough affluence within the country that it wouldn't be considered 3rd world. I'm also not sure whether it's reasonable to judge an economy during a global recession either.

Running water is a given for the vast majority, and technically you can get proper nutrition from a Big Mac, so I'd say that those aren't really points of contention. I answered a question from an American guy ridiculing the UK for having a higher rate of poverty than the US (percentage wise-study was from 2007) I found this strange until I realized that if poor people get sick over here, they have health care, so they still stay poor, but they survive. However, obviously in the States if somebody gets sick and can't afford hospital bills, they die.

Personally I see that system more akin to a brutalized 3rd world standard of living than over here.

We'm got running water in the streets, round these parts, come present. No shortage of it down at ford by church. But then, I usually just use my bathroom or kitchen taps.

*Access* to proper nutrition we have. Making us eat it, that's something else. Glasgow salad: "...wi' chips" Personally my standard of living is far better here than it would be in the USA.

Here I can afford to be chronically ill and unable to work. I have US friends struggling to afford just their medication, never mind hospital bills. "I came across a website saying ... well pretty much anything is quite possible: that's the trick.

If it was so dire and undeveloped why, each year, do a hundred thousand people want to come here to stay? (That's the legals... and that's net shift in population after counting in the Brits fleeing to somewhere drier and warmer).

The UK is like the 7th richest country so even though we have some money problems (like almost every other country at the moment) we are still considered a rich country, the standard of living doesn't seem to have much differences but I think most Americans might expect to have bigger cars and houses and the air conditioning on like 24/7. Almost everyone like 99% of people has access to drinking water and proper nutrition, except for like really homeless people, so its not that much different to the US. This website should help, I used it for my geography homework... theglobaleducationproject.org….

Who invented computers internet / wide world web YES WE DID Radio T. V Telephone the inverter is from Scotland Mp3 players The U. K So hardly poorly developed country AND IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME!

Oh course not. In terms of the HDI (Human development index), the UK isn't that far behind the US. The UK is an MEDC (more economically developed country), and whoever told you otherwise is wrong!

The economy here is no worse than that of the US for example either.

Ooh, let's see. Does 50gb fibre-optic broadband count as "undeveloped"? ...

No the Uk is a developed country Actually the Uk has better housing, roads etc than the Usa.

I came across a website that said......" Says it all, really. Look for a better source, such as OECD.

You see this is why the rest of the world think Americans are Douche bags.

Here in the UK, pretty much every house has inside, healthy running water that adheres to strict guidelines. Poverty is low despite quite high unemployment. We have an enviable benefit system which sees an influx of immigration from other less fortunate eastern European communities.

Cost of food and clothing is generally high with a loaf of bread at approx £1 (1.5493USD) 2.27litres of milk costs about £1.18 (1.828174USD). We have a National Health Service which means that if you require life-saving medical treatment, you get it without any extra cost. Even non-life saving treatment is provided free however you may need to wait depending on the urgency of the treatment.E.g.

Fall off a ladder and break your arm, taken to hospital via ambulance, X-ray and plaster-cast = no cost; Emergency open heart surgery = no cost; removal of benign tumor = approx 9 month wait but no cost. Nutrition is closely monitored with children via schools and social services and children are educated with regard to healthy eating. Compared to the US?

Gun and knife crime in the UK is low. UK police do not routinely carry guns however officers are being given tasers as a tactical option. However, since the introduction of tasers being provided to officers, there have been very few deployment of tasers.

The weather here is sh#t, our summer is about 2 weeks of blistering heat (which many Americans find cold) followed by wind and rain and the occasional snow.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
