Because it sure ain't here! This is the forum for bored people who ask idiotic questions just to be sure there are other people out there. So you may ask.."why don't you ask challenging questions that will attract intelligent answers. " Been there, tried that.... this appears to be an intellectual waste land.
"You all can get rid of me by telling me of a good forum with intelligent people who ask more challenging questions than "How can I make brown sugar out of white?" Or....."how much change do you have? " Or...."Does anyone have some fun sewing stories to tell?
" Or...."Do you like colored text?" Asked by Geppetto 47 months ago Similar questions: forum caters intelligent questions people Food & Drink > Cooking.

Tjs, I think you are being overly harsh... ...but, I am still in the transitional stage between newbie and veteran, so it is quite possible I lack sufficient perspective. . Question: "Is there a forum that caters to intelligent questions and people?" .
My honest response to your Q is: Yes...Askville. . But, I must agree with you in part.
Askville is a microcosm of America. It is not unlike any hometown. It has as residents people from many walks of life, many ages, many socio-economic levels. Some are formally educated; some are not.
Some are naturally intelligent; others possess wisdom borne of experience. . I’d say we are an opinionated community representing a pretty broad spectrum of ideas.
Some of us are liberal in leaning; many of us are conservative in leaning. Some of us question the existence of God and the value of religion; many of us are quite religious, representing virtually all major religions. Some of us are young students; many of us are retired.
Some of us write because we are quest gold or best answer ratio addicts; others of us write because we feel compelled to give advice. Perhaps some of us are bored; some seek social interaction; but, Askville offers us many family dinner tables to draw our chairs up to and have an assortment of conversations. And, if we don’t like the dinner table options, we can set up a new dinner table and invite different types of guests through new questions.
. For the most part, I think we are an open minded group--good listeners, tolerant of divergent opinions. But, I would also say that as everywhere we find some folks intolerant, unfriendly and pretty closeminded in how they think.
Maybe they are overworked or had a bad day; maybe they are naturally that way. I don’t enjoy interacting with them as much.As in real life, we can learn their names and choose whether we sit down at that table to exchange ideas with them again. .
By the way, not to relegate our Q & A and DB to entertainment, but some intelligent members of our community seem to consider it a personal challenge to be able to influence the thinking of fellow company around the dinner table. Not all of these fellow guests reason in the same way. Some are governed much more heavily by faith.
Others employ razor sharp logical argument. Yet others seem to form their opinions more from the gut or from the heart, rather than from the brain. I find being able to flexibly debate points with very different folks is truly a challenge to the intelligence.
All it takes is one sign of intolerance or a poor wording choice to set off the other parties and effectively lose the debate.. We all have our own interests; some are shared and some are not. In my 4 active months here, I have gone in and out of many "Topics". In doing so, I would agree in part with you that some of the interchange is silly.
But, let’s not forget that people move to Askville for many different reasons. . On the whole, Askville is a very enjoyable learning community--perhaps a little overly addictive...but, hey, you can’t have everything.
. If a segment of the population is interested in intellectual debate, I will maintain that it is alive and well in our Ville--at least in some of the Topics. If the dinner conversation degenerates into an uninteresting or unchallenging discussion, then we all can always move to another table.
Askville is set up so that no one really sees us moving our chairs from one table to another anyway. . I hope you find your niche here.
Whether the topic is hybrid technology or quantum mechanics or the 2008 Presidential contest(s) or the new Islamic reformation movement coming out of Turkey or the pros and cons of Los Cabos resorts, I think there are people here able to participate in a reasonably intelligent dialogue. Give it another chance. Take care...curious7777777 Sources: I lifted a few thoughts from a previous answer of mine; the rest is from my 4 months of experience in Askville .
Oh TJS, this is just far too sad The problem, not to put too fine a point on it, is that, well, now please try very hard not to be, you know, going over the deep end, but, you see, in order to recognize intelligence, and I say this with the greatest of sympathy and affection, you actually have to be intelligent. And well, again, there's no really kind way to say this, but your history here ..... not exactly Einstein, my brother. In fact, more like Charlie.
You know. Flowers for Algernon? Well, read it, if you don't.
Now you know that I have the kindest of hearts, and I would never, in a million years, want to do anything to hurt anyone, and especially, not to disparage their, shall we say, mental acuity. Since people don't all have access to decent educations, or good schools, and such, but tjs, you sit there with that avatar that can most kindly be described as an old man wearing a dunce cap, and, I mean. Get a grip!
Have some self esteem, man! You don't have to announce that you're an idiot to everyone! Yes, I know, you want to be proud of who you are, but some things.... what can I say.It just doesn't go over well.
I mean, I have self-esteem that's lower than dirt, and even I don't go around announcing how stupid I am, do I? Ooops. I think I just did.
Oh well. As it happens, I do have a suggestion for you. Now don't get turned off by the sound of it.
I really think you'll have a good time at this place: WellTrainedRats.com. They have virtual exercise wheels to run around on, and puzzles that will entertain your mind: you know, mazes, and things like that. They reward you with little virtual food pellets, and you can even meet other little rats of whatever pursuasion you like, for, well, fun and games.
They even have a section for fundamentalist christian rats. I believe it's called IBelieveWhatIWant.christian.com. But, as I said.
What do I know? I looked at these websites, but I was too stupid to understand them. I think that when they measured my IQ, they couldn't score it, because they weren't allowed to do negative scores.
Something about being unkind to animals, they said. So, dude. Sorry to have wasted your time.
But it's true. Considering the shattered intelligences lurking here, you are truly a prince amongst us, and really, while we are terribly grateful that you have graced us with your shining luminousity, even for a moment, we don't blame you one bit, for seeking greener pastures, at least, insofar as intelligence is concerned. We'll miss you.
We will so miss you.
Consider the sponser. Askville is, and pretends to be, no more than an arm of URL1 marketing. Yes, we are free to speak on whatever topic we wish, but we are encouraged to recommend Amazon’s products at the end of each answer: ----------------- Furthermore, on the Amazon.com site, at the bottom of the page after a search, appears the following: Can’t find what you’re looking for?
Ask Askville! There’s a growing community of people just waiting to answer your question. Give it a try!
------------------------------------------------------------ Sometime in 2006, Askville Beta began growing with invitations that Amazon.com sent out to its account holders. They didn’t send out invitations specifically to Mensa members (that would have excluded me), or just to college graduates... Instead, they sent invitations to those who they knew were spending money with them already, and likely figured that this could only increase revenues. Think of the crowd you would get if everybody that shopped at, say, Barnes & Noble and Wal-Mart combined showed up at the same party.
Askville's conversations can't be that much different. The advantage of the B&N/W-M party is that as long as I'm imagining, I imagine that there would be food. Sources: Personal observance tekriter's Recommendations Pirate Treasure Chest Full of Gold (Chocolate Coins)!
