I never celebrated holidays. What I celebrated was getting together with family, being thankful for all that I have, for making it through another year, and celebrated all of the fantastic people I have met and friends I have made along the way. Holidays are not dates on a calender.

Holidays are not for going crazy trying to make a perfect meal, or find the perfect present, or making sure that everything (including yourself) are perfect. If you do not wish to observe a holiday, that is your choice. But it saddens me a little to hear that you feel you have nothing worth celebrating.

The winter solstice has been celebrated for thousand of years. Not everyone celebrating Christmas is interested in when Jesus was born. It's a time for coming together, feasting, celebrating.

I do think the buying "stuff" has gone overboard but thats been a problem for years. I do like the idea of exchanging a gift. Different strokes for different folks.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
