The legalities are if you don't have permission from the person who owns the rights to the photo, you don't have the rights to use it. You will have to find out how to contact the specific photographer whose picture(s) you want to use. They will be able to tell you if you can use the picture and if any payment is required or if you need to credit them.
I would stick to free or open content if possible. If you want to ask permission, just fire out an email. Sometimes they will let you use it without needing to pay anything so long as you cite where it is from (give credit).
Also, be prepared to answer why you are using it.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
