I encourage you to take a look at my list of Mahalo pages on my profile for an idea of where you should be heading. I currently manage 38 pages. Video game walkthroughs receive a lot of views, so your best chance of earning money lies with claiming a fraction of those walkthroughs (Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, and Dead Space are particularly popular).

I have a few coupon pages, but I haven't received very much. Claiming a coupon page is one thing. But it's hard work maintaining them on top of your other pages, and many people might not be interested in those kinds of coupons. So it really is a gamble.

Then again, claiming any page is a gamble. A combination of a lot of updates, a lot of information, and a bit of luck is the recipe for success. One thing I noticed about many of your pages is that they are specific to individual people.

This is fantastic! But only if you get important people that everyone knows about, like your pages on Phil Mickelson or Carrie Underwood. But you probably won't get a lot of money from other pages like Ernie Harwell.

My best advice is to aim for more general, broad, or far-reaching pages that people are going to search for a lot, like Astronomy, Rock Music, Australia, or Running. These pages are likely to make more over time because there is a greater chance that people will search for these. And people looking at Harwell might not click on those ads that earn you cash.

You might want to continue maintaining these pages, just choose more pages wisely. With these tips in mind, I'm sure you will do just fine. You have really been a big help to me and the rest of the Mahalo community.

Patience is key; I wish you the best of luck!

Page promotion will bring your pages more traffic, more traffic means more potential for ad clicks. Check out how to market a mahalo page. When you mention any of your pages in Mahalo Answers, make sure you enclose it in double square brackets so that it appears as a link.

If you have blogs or twitter active on any of your pages, reach out to some of those conversations and ask people for feedback on your pages. Ask questions from your topic pages. Create links for your pages in del.icio.us.

Organic link building takes time. Not all pages will be big earners, but you should eventually have a stable annuity.

There are a lot of different strategies for making profitable pages. Yours are doing ok, but you are right, they have not made a lot of money. I noticed you picked some pages for big name people.

This is ok, but these pages may not make a lot of money because they won't be found in a search. There are so many resources out there for famous people so you have a lot of competition when it comes to people finding you page. If you want to make pages for people, a trick is to find someone who is new and just starting to be famous.

Then your page is more likely to get hits because there is not a lot out there for that person yet. Another tip is to think about what kind of ad links people will actually click. The ads are related to your page content. So if you want a profitable page you have to pick topics that will produce ad links that people will click.

Another tip is to look at the top revenue generating pages to see what works the best. mahalo.com/leaderboard/pages There are so many factors that influence how much a page will make. It's kinda like trial and error. Just stick with it and I think you will be making money in no time.

I'm not sure your numbers are all that out of line with what most people are seeing. And I'm not sure it's all that easy to generalise about what will get lots of views and revenue either. Case in point... My page on Kate Winslet didn't earn a cent for a month.

Then last week it earned 4 cents. And in the last few days it's earned $1.80. I have no explanation for any of this.

:) Equally I couldn't tell you why iPod Touch has been so much more successful than iPod Classic. It's easy to make up rationalisations after the event: "Topic X didn't get views because it is too broad and there are too many pages about it on the web, and topic Y didn't get views because it is too narrow and not enough people search for it" etc. But when you try to apply any of that logic up front, the results are pretty unpredictable. In an ideal world you'd choose topics that you find fascinating, know lots about, which many people on Mahalo are interested in, yet which have not already been claimed here, and for which there aren't lots of other excelllent competing web-pages about that very thing. Finding such ideal topics could be quite a tall order!

Personally I just experiment with topics and see how they do in practice. The things I experiment with are a little bit informed by what I think might be successful, but the results often show that my guesses are off.

There are two things that combine to maximizing page revenue- traffic and whether or not people will click on the ads. Some pages have topics where people are more likely to lick through-- but if you get enough traffic, even a small click through rate will work. In order to get traffic you need two things.

#1 You need a topic that is searched. Check your terms with Google Ad Words or SEO workbook to see the average search volume for the term. # You need to get your page ranked well so you'll get your portion of tose searches. To do this, you need links to your blog from other sources.

Link to the pages from your blog(if you don't have one start one), Facebook, and Myspace. Participate in forums that discuss the topics you have pages on-- if you have sports players, join several online communities where people discuss those players, and mention your links in the posts-- ask for opinions--use the a featured object to start a discussion, and ask people to join the discussion. Build awareness.

As more people visit, the rank will rise. Just my thoughts--good luck!

Dear Kerry change the topics which you have been promoting add few segments which are popular like music ,films ,sports etc.

I'm a BIG LOSER. Haha! Haven't figured out the pages thing...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
