It will be kind of tough to say "the most controversial" or "the most offensive" because all of us have a different idea as to what "controversial" and "offensive' means to us. The time line of television will also play a part in the level of controversy and offensiveness, the Ed Sullivan Show in the 50s that aired Elvis Presley but did not air his gyrating hips was controversial and offensive at the time but by todays standards is quite tame. On the other side in nearly every episode of The Honeymooners Ralph Kramden threatened Alice Kramden with domestic violence with his trademark line "to the moon Alice" with the closed fist representation of him striking her.
The Honeymooners won Emmy Awards in the 50s but in todays world would probably never even get produced in the same fashion due to the repetitive threats of even simulated domestic violence. A family show that has threats of domestic violence in every episode? I doubt it.So what is and is not offensive changes with time and with each audience of viewers and I do not think one show is "more offensive" or "more controversial" when the television era the show aired and the audiences current perception of what the terms "offensive" and "controversial mean to them either specifically or as a group are taken into consideration.
To me personally with my own metrics of controversy and offensive I find everything Glenn Beck says on television and on the radio to be the "most controversial" and the "most offensive" things ever said using either communication medium.. but that is just me and only time will tell. I think the clip about Glenn Beck below is hilarious.. most would find it controversial and offensive.
Obvious all the 14 series of south park, but take a look to the first episode of lone gunmen. That's unbelievable, that series was banned cause the first episode in my opinion. Let me know if you know it.Thanks.
One that I remember from when I was a bit younger was the episode where Ellen Degeneres came out as a homosexual on her show Ellen. It was a huge deal when it happened. It probably wouldn't be so controversial today, but when it happened it was.It opened a lot of doors for herself and others down the road, sparked a lot of debate, and caused a lot of outrage.
To me that stands out as a very controversial TV moment.
I believe one of the most controversial episodes was on South Park with the "Bloody Mary" episode. It made a lot of Catholics angry. I'm not sure it would be the "most" controversial since there are so many lately but it sure was upsetting to a lot of people.

I would say that Detective Sipowicz showing his buttcheeks on NYPD Blue and Janet Jackson exposing her breast (for like a tenth of a second) on the Super Bowl got people all fired up. People really lose their minds over "Who cares? " stuff.
The bailiwick is that most things that offend people have a tendency to not offend me. To the contrary. I usually have to hit "pause" due to guffaws.
There are many brilliant South Park episodes, it's rough to pick my fave. So, I didn't! Yes, I know that these are not episodes, but I went for some commercials, several of my faves on one reel.
Isn't it sad that the best stuff doesn't come from the US? Enjoy!
The early morning astrologer in the television.... if their astrology says something wrong nabout any sign, then people used to believe that and spoil others work too....
Iam not sure if this falls into the Television Episodes or not but I am going to leave it anyways. The one that I find not only offensive but extreme rudeness in always involved in his shows. The "Howard Sterns Show".
I do not think this man has a nice thing to say about anything other than of course sex. He has put people down and totally taken from many peoples self esteem. The most recent one that I recall was about the actress that played in the "Precious" movie youtube.com/watch?v=M6Ss0Ukv1oc.I can not believe that he said all that crap about her on TV.
Unreal that people even take a sec out of their day to listen and watch someone sooo damned heartless and rude! I can not even stand to look at this man!
Ellen I think this was one of the most controversial episode and offensive television episode ever. This particular episode caused so much controversy and was criticized by many conservative people. At the time when she did this TV show the country was struggling more with homosexuality.
Today homosexuality is more tolerated than it was back then when Ellen came out. ABC was nervous but they allowed her to do it. ew.com/ew/article/0,,289951,00.html tv.com/ellen-degeneres/person/20796/biog....
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
