They are usually made from cowhide, so I don't think it will be a big problem.

I don't think so, and I doubt your dog chewed it into small enough pieces to let it pass through, SO I would call your vet for advice, he may want you to induce vomiting, or just watch ans see what happens, or he may want to see him ASAP to take an xray and see how big the pieces are and if they can pass or will need surgery to remove it. But PLEASE call your vet now, or an after hours emergency vet for advice.

How big is your dog and how old --- baseball are cowhide / leather and so although not digestable it should pass like a raw hide chew would --- the two problems would be if it was swallowed whole it could act as a flap in the part of the stomach that enters the intestines and cause a blockage or if it bunches into a ball it could lodge in the intestines at the junction of the small and large intestines --- feed and water as usual but watch for bloating --vomiting or diarrhea -- or not wanting to eat --- these would be signs to have him looked at asap ---- most rawhide becomes soft and somewhat slimey when chewed so it should pass --- I ask about size because this is a completely different situation if its a small dog vs a lab .

Keep an eye on him and let him drink all the water he wants. Sometimes stuff like that can clog the intestines and require surgery. Otherwise, it should all come out in the end.
