My Siberian Husky has been eating the clumps of grass left behind from the mower; is it unhealthy?

I grew up with German Shepherds. From my understanding, the bigger the dog, the more you have to be wise of their diet. Usually dogs eat grass when they have an upset stomach, as it forced stomach release (vomiting).

In some cased, for bigger breeds for instance, its for lack of nutrition. It's nothing to worry about! Dogs are more wise about their bodies than we, humans, are!

Just be sure he/she isn't eating "treated" grass. The poison can cause seizures.

Dogs do eat grass for several reasons, he may be looking for fibre in his diet, or may be medicating himself with vitamins.

He may also vomit after eating a lot of grass. This is more unpleasant to clean up.

Be careful if he eats meadow grass or grass from places where other animals may have been to the bathroom. This could leave him open to infection with worms, so it is a very good idea to keep his worming regime up to date.

If you are really concerned by the amount of grass he is eating, I would advise that you speak to your dogs veterinary surgeon, just so they can give specific advice and check him over.

Generally all dogs will eat grass and there is no known reason for them not to.

When ingested, the grass blade tickles the throat and stomach lining; this sensation, in turn, may cause the dog to vomit, especially if the grass is gulped down rather than chewed.

Eating from the mowed grass however suggests that either it is creating an easier salad to consume or the lawn may have growing in it certain types of weeds or grass or clover that are appealing to the dogs senses especially when chopped up releasing juices and odor.

So it really is nothing to be concerned about but a sudden increase in grass eating could signal an intestinal ailment that might need veterinary attention. Eating grass could lead to accidental ingestion of pesticides, herbicides, or chemicals that have been used to treat your (or your neighbor's) yard so that is one precaution you should take before allowing your dog to eat grass..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
