Zoe is veeeeeery sneaky We have a two year old shih-tzu mix named Zoe. We got her when a "purebred shih tzu" breeder (read, backyard breeder selling some sort of lhasa or poodle shihtzu mixes as purebred shih tzus) had trouble selling her. She had three homes, three different names, and was trucked back to rural Illinois each time.
According to the "breeder", this puppy barked too much, so she couldn't be sold. The obvious solution to the problem? Put the dog to sleep.
When she brought the dog to the vet, thankfully, a friend of our family was there and offered to take the dog for free. The lady allowed it 'cause she didn't want to spend the money putting her to sleep. Friend called us, we wanted a dog, and the rest is history.
She was barking because they were crate training her in a cat carrier where she couldn't even stand up, and leaving her there for 8 hours at a time. You'd think a dog from that situation would be quite bad tempered or afraid of people, but she LOVES people, other dogs, and cats. She's a little snugglekins!
Anyway, on to the funny story. A few weeks ago, I was sitting on the couch, eating breakfast and watching TV. Miss Zoe started whining and dancing around by the door (in other words, telling me she had to pee).
I said "outside" and she grabbed her leash, dropped it, and ran over by me. I got up from the couch and grabbed the leash and started putting my shoes on. When I looked back, Zoe (who is usually in my lap when I have a leash) had gotten on the couch and was happily munching away on my breakfast!
Thinking I was just silly for giving her the opportunity, I took the food away from her, and tried to leash her. She looked at me like I was crazy, and wandered off into another room. She hadn't wanted to go outside at all.
She used it as a guise to trick me so she could eat my food! She's tried this trick several times since, but we've caught on. She's also funny because she love to look out the window at passersby.
She'll bark at all of them, except for workmen. She LOVES the workmen. When they come by, she sits down, whines, then jumps up and down.
Every time. If we're outside, she'll sit when she sees them (why? We don't know), whine until they pay attention (they all know her now), and urinate when they pet her.
It sounds like she's scared, but after she pees, she attempts to go with them! We think one of her owners in the past was some sort of maintenance man. So that's Zoe.
She's a very silly girl, and we're glad to have her! Sources: My own story .
Slipping on the ice... Two years ago we went for a walk in winter during the nighttime. The sidewalks were heavily traversed during the day, so it got packed down, melted, and then REfroze when the sun went down. We live in an apartment complex, practically surrounded by office buildings, so it is deserted at night, so we let the dog off-leash.
Anyway, we went for a walk, and there is this retaining wall around a small landscape display. My 70 lb lab mix named Loki loves to jump, especially on retaining walls (he likes to walk above us or next to us...playing king of the world, I guess...) so we let him off-leash, and he walks beside us until I yell "GO! " He takes off like a greased pig, gets ready to jump up onto that retaining wall, and....he hits that ice, and slides right into the retaining wall!
Despite the fearful and confused look on his face during his attempt to turn around, and his subsequent crash, he came out of it just fine...and both me and my husband laughed until we CRIED! Hahahaha! .
The Sheltie's way too busy herding around, well, anything that moves, so I asked my retired Iditarod dog if she'd share a couple funny sled dogs story. She just gave me her "I'm the sled dog and you're not" look, the one she saves for anyone who's too big a wuss to go to Nome the hard way, by dog sled, and said to tell everyone the paw-tograph line forms to the right, but she's rather busy right now, so Foxy will have to keep everyone in line while she rests up. I told her it's been five years since she went to Nome, she oughta be rested up by now, but she was already snoozing away on her doggie pillow.
No spoiled dogs here. Sorry. No funny dog tails, er, tales here in Alaska tonight, either.
2 This is rather short, so I won't use an answer slot. Just to illustrate how smart dogs can be, my two dogs have learned that as soon as I get a big towel and the blow dryer out of the closet, it's bath time. My chihuahua will immediately run out the ramp that leads to the back yard and just sit right in the middle so we can't reach her easily from either the top or the bottom.
The yorkie will crouch on his belly out in the open in the living room with his paws over his head. Like "if I can't see you, you can't see me! " I call him "hide-in-plain-sight" doggie.

" "This is a question about acquiring a dog or dogs. " "My dog is terrified of other dogs, what can I do? " "Who let the dogs out?
" "We just got a new dog, a boxer. Are they good tempered dogs? " "Where my dogs at?
" "I thought beagles lives longer than most other dogs? " "Is your dog ready for Christmas? These dogs are!
This is a question about acquiring a dog or dogs.
We just got a new dog, a boxer. Are they good tempered dogs?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
