Get an order of protection from the county courthouse. All you need to do is provide the information you have given the police and tell the judge you are afraid for your safety. The police are incorrect in their interpretation that a person can destroy another's property because they live there.

You don't need an eviction, which requires a court case, you need an order of protection. If he is "keeping you in the house" call the police and tell them he is holding you against your will, and then get to the courthouse and file for an order of protection.
