Question re: Tires that will fit on a 2000 Dodge Neon?

Question re: Tires that will fit on a 2000 Dodge Neon My 16 yr old needs at least two new tires. Her car is a 2000 Dodge Neon 4-door. The tire specs for the car in the manual reads P185/65/R14.

On her car she currently has P195/60/R14. I think I understand this tire thing: The 195 represents the width of the tire; the 60 is the height of the tire, and the 14 is the size tire. Assuming this, her car has a tire that is a bit wider and a bit lower profile than the specs in the manual.

Ok, here's my problem; she needs two tires ASAP! I found 2 cheap, excellent tires. They're a P205/60/R14.(so same height as all 4 on there now but bit wider).

Here's my question... can I get these tires from my friend, put the P205/60/R14 on her rear and leave the P195/60/R14 on front? I know the 195/60 fit n work ok on front, but will the 205/60 work ok on back with the front size slightly narrower but same height? Please help, I can't find anything on net about acceptable sizes for this car (except standard size)... THANKS!

Don't do it! The tires will probably rub, even on the rear. And chains won't fit come winter.

Get the right size, put them on the front and move the P195/60/R14 tires to the rear. Or get 4 the right size! Always put your best tire on the Left front, second on Right front.

Tire sizes can be very important to vehicle safety and handling. Many major tire dealers will only replace sets of 4 and few will install the wrong size, because of safety and liability (remember Ford EXPLODERS and Firestone tires? ).

What's your peace of mind worth? The other tires may work perfectly fine but if she is ever in an accident the tire mismatch may be cited as a factor against her. Yes the tires will work... Check to see if you have a few millimeters clearance between the tire and the suspension, and with the rims totally installed and jacks removed (tires down on own weight). However make sure the lug nuts are torgued at 100 foot pounds and do both sides at the same time. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
