The one I'd most highly recommend is The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil. Sources: My Opinion .

Get ready for a long list... Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Long, but with a powerful philosophical message. Any Harry Potter book.

Good stories, fun at any age. And last time I checked, no one had stolen my soul yet... The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. A graphically moving novel about the horror that has become Afghanistan.

If this book doesn't get to you, you are made of stone. State of Fear by Michael Crichton. A good novel backed up with 31 pages of bibliography of real facts about the issue of global warming and its causes.

Should make you realize you don't know what you think you do unless you choose not to open your mind. Any novel by Brian Jacques. While aimed at children, the struggles faced by the creatures are very similar to what many face, and the stories are excellent.

Deception Point by Dan Brown. Thrilling ride, even if it is a bit over the top sometimes. Guitar, An American Life by Tim Brookes.

Whether you play guitar, just like guitar, or even just like history, this book unfolds and takes you on a meandering trail that somehow ended up being what we know of today as the guitar. It is also an intersting look into the authors psyche, with several interesting side notes about all kinds of things. Great read.

Anything by Ann Coulter. Just because you may not agree with something doesn't make it wrong. Just because something affects you emotionally doesn't make it bad.

People need to toughen up in this country, quit expecting "someone" to fix their problems, and Ann Coulter points this out. WARNING: Die hard liberals who refuse to open their minds WILL be offended. However, offense does not equal falsehood, no matter what you may hear.

Whether you agree with Ms. Coulter or not, her books will get you thinking, and thinking is good for you, no matter what you may hear. Git-R-Done by Larry the Cable Guy.No really, this is a book.

You won't be enlightened. You won't be culturally stimulated. But who cares?

This is funny stuff, and a nice break is what we all need once in a while. Just don't look at the back cover, because NO ONE needs to see Larry sitting at at typewriter in his underwear. Happy reading.

I've just finished a few... ...in the past two weeks. Billie Holiday's autobiography "Lady Sings the Blues" gives insight into her character and is such a short book that it can be read for lunch. Robert Fisk's "Great War for Civilisation" and "Pity the Nation" are both excellent (though depressing) reads; he covers a great deal of history and provides a first-hand account of all manner of leaders, military and otherwise.

Taylor Branch's trilogy was a wonderful read; "Parting the Waters" and "Pillar of Fire" were so enthralling that I steamed right through them. "At Canaan's Edge" was no less painstakingly researched and well-written, but King's increasingly hectic schedule, (and the schedules of those around him,) make for a few dry chapters. "Sophie's World", something I bought for a young cousin a while back, was a brief change from hard reality and didn't take long to re-visit completely."First Ladies: Saga of Presidents' Wives and Their Power, 1789-1961" is ambitious in scope, though lightly written.

It's kept in the baby's room so I only read a chapter here and a chapter there when my baby starts to get tired; I'm still working on it. I just finished Edwidge Danticat's "Krik? Krak!

" for the fourth time, (again, as a break from the various histories I've been perusing. ) As ever, her writing is lyrical. Barbara Kingsolver's "Small Wonder" was another pleasant break.

And I am just beginning "I Heard You Paint Houses" by Charles Brandt, an account of Frank Sheeran and Jimmy Hoffa. "Reading is the last unpunished vice." .

Here are the last 14 books I have read I would recommend any of them. 1. "The Napoleon of Notting K.

Most Recently The most recent book I read was Jennifer Government by Max Barry. This was a great book. At some points its hard to follow as it jumps from character to character in each chapter. It all ties together and all the characters lives are intertwined at one point.

The main plot is about a corrupt capitalist futuristic government. JDiPierro's Recommendations Jennifer Government Amazon List Price: $13.95 Used from: $2.23 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5 (based on 163 reviews) .

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
