I am 63 and getting social security but I realize that entitlement programs including social security and medicare are going to have to be cut back. If we make those cuts now, we might still be able to help those who truly need help with what they truly need. But if we wait till we are force to do something, then the chances are very good that all entitlement programs will have to be completely eliminate.
I am an old person, and I did not vote for Republicans. Republicans have been trying to get rid of Medicare and social security forever. They opposed it when it was put in place.
I have paid for it my whole life. Those programs are not bankrupting the country, the problem is that congress needs to keep their hands off of the money that comes in. They are two programs that actually work, and they need some cleanup.
What has bankrupted the country is war. We are constantly pouring billions into other countries to either blow them up, support their dictators, or rebuild them. No one with a brain gives any credence to Fox news.
Anyone who actually sees them as a valid news outlet is ignorant, no matter what age. We are old, not stupid. We are far more informed via AARP and other senior groups.
Every senior citizen center is equipped with computers so we can actively communicate with our elected officials. And we do. It's your social security and medicare too.
I've paid into it because I want access to it, it is the same reason you pay into it. Every civilized country manages to have similar programs, sadly American leaders have been poor stewards of our tax dollars.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
