The trouble with dogs... and my last three were exceptional, is that they don't live anywhere near long enough; the bigger they are, the shorter their life span. Daio, a pinto Akita, beautiful, smart, loyal, magnificent and quiet. Grizzly Bear, Akita, all those characteristics and more.

He was palomino, white paws and black face. He passed at 10 3/4 years, long for a dog that size, at a good Vet's office with a twisted Duodenum. I cried like a baby and the Vet, a female, was kind enough to leave us alone.My last one was a rescue Rottweiler who was on the road for about three months when I found him.

$400 later he was ready for the dog show if I would have insulted him in such a manner. He died of kidney failure at 6 years, way too early, god knows what he had to eat and drink for three months after he rescued himself from some a$$hole human I would loved to have met.No more dogs for me. I have two rescue cats and the one...Fuzzbucket, thinks she's a dog, meets the car when it arrives and comes when I call her.

1 The only thing I have in common with one of my Guinea Pigs is hair growth. Out of three GP, one has her hair cut all the time. Like I ~ I chop it off every two years.

Of course there are the horses (two palomino minis, two bays and one dirty white), the chickens (five Buff Orpington -- gold -- and one Americauna -- black) , the goats (one Nubian, brown, and one Pygora, silver) and the guinea pig (gold and white). I really do like to think I am a little different from any of them.... I don't have nearly as much body hair as any of them, no feathers, and my face is quite human looking! .
