I have not heard the noise your car is making, so my answer is quite limited. HOWEVER, I can tell that a car is a Honda by that humming sound. I have owned four Accords, five Civics, two Preludes, one Odyssey and even the newest Honda Fit and darn near every one of them has that very distinctive humming sound.
I truly believe it is the way the engine is manufactured that causes that sound. They all hum like that. To me, it’s the sign that the car IS a Honda.
How well is the car running? If it’s not showing any signs of trouble, you are probably okay. Of course, the only way to know for sure is for a mechanic to check it out.
Make sure you find one you trust and ask him to run a diagnostic check on the engine. If he comes back with a crazily prized estimate, get a second opinion or call the guys on Car Talk, the radio call-in show for car repairs on NPR.
Hondas are generally very reliable, but, like any car, not perfect. So, if your Honda Accord is making a slight humming sound, when you are turning it on. Well, that is good that you know that it is not the engine and it might be electrical.
You should ask yourself a few questions, first. Did you buy the Accord as a new car, or a used car? Also, the most important question to ask yourself, is has it always hummed.
The likelihood about something seriously wrong with a new Honda Accord is not as high. You may have a lemon, of course, but, not as likely. Now, if you bought a used car, and if it hummed initially, I would call the dealership that you bought it from or the private party that you got it from.
Ask them about the history of the car. Ultimately, I believe it is better to be safe than sorry and you should bring the car to a mechanic for a checkup.
Kramer! It depends whether this "noise" is a new one or if it's always been there. The Honda Accord, like any other modern car, has a lot of electronics built in which is why the new cars are running so smoothly and use less petrol.
BUT, have you looked at your maintenance booklet, have you done regular checks as suggested by Honda? If not, I would strongly advise to do so immediately and let your garage run a check to see whether everything is running nicely. Chances are, that there is a little problem.
I come from a generation where you repaired a car when it "broke down". Nowadays that is not to be recommended, because of all the high strung engines and electronics. It is absolutely a "must" to do the regular checks, because if you don't and the car DOES brake down, it WILL be expensive!
Or dangerous if you try and "fix" your own electrics. Hope, this helps!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
