Should Mahalo limit the number of questions from a single member and/or on a single topic on the front page at one time?

The highest tipped questions are featured as part of Mahalo's free market. Anyone who wants to put their question up there can do so by simply spending the money and asking a decent questions. One user has figured out that for a very cheap price they can get their message across. It's only a matte of time before other users realize this.

What would be is if I could hide a particular user or hit an X to remove a question from my view. Facebook has these features where you can block a certain user or a game like Farmville. Mahalo will have this feature at some point as well: block religious question or block a specific user.

This will solve the entire problem. Until then you can simply page down. :).

I'd say that space up there at the top with the "highest tipped questions" is some prime real estate and I do not know how we could regulate the questions or subjects up there as every single space up there is bought and paid for buy the users own money. I would say that in consideration of others those wishing to forward ANY type of question asking agenda would be considerate enough to space out their questions and allow others some room up there but again.. it is space for sale and if they have the money.. they own the space. We have the same issues sometime with other users in the default tip section where they would ask 10, 15, or 20+ questions all within a 30 minute period and although a bit unnerving and certainly pushes the questions of other off of the front page, I can't see any way we could stop or regulate this behavior but to ask for politeness and consideration of other when asking question in large groups. So while I wish that people would be as considerate as possible when asking questions I do not think we could do anything but ask them to "try" and space out their questions over a longer period of time.

I have seen a user say "I only have so much time and want to ask these question while I am thinking about it".. that has to be acceptable as the only limit is the number of question they can ask not how often they can ask this number of questions. I think to say "you can only ask 3, 4, or 5 questions at a time" would effectively restrict some users to than number of questions and not the number they are actually allowed to ask. Now to regulate by subject matter in the "highest tipped questions" I just can't see a fair way to tell someone "you can only buy so much space in relation to one topic", after all it is for sale and that is the function of the "highest tipped question" section so I think this is again an issue of consideration, a user would be the most considerate if, even though they can afford it, allowed other users to buy some prime real estate as well but I do not know how we can ask them to not spend their money if it might inconvenience someone.

Overall I would have to say the "highest tipped question" section is reserved for those that have the money to spend and if the want to spend it all at once or more often the others.. we should let them and not regulate or impede their own expenditure of their own Mahalo Dollars up there in any way. That is truly the free market section of Mahalo Answers and I do not know how else we could have things up there.

It's never happened before and it may never happen again. So it may be premature to spend energy on trying to come up with a fix for something that might only be a rare occurrence. However I don't like seeing the system filled with questions on only one topic, whether they are from one asker or many askers.

That also goes when the system is awash with Oscar or iPad questions. One thing that is disconcerting now though is that any given set of high-tipped questions is likely to linger for five days now. What I'd really like is a way to "dismiss" questions that I know I'm not interested in, so I never have to scroll through them again.

Maybe. I like my 2 cent questions. I don't see much value in the New Question queue, other than voting.

I'm want member voting tips to gain popular question status. I think the popular question status is the most important queue. The highest tip and feature question could be done away with and the queue could focus on the "Action" questions or the questions gaining the most interest, in my opinion.

Then I realized the spamming may not be intentional or even the fault of the poster at all, so I refrained. :) I love the suggestion about checking boxes to customize the front page. I really think there should be a time limit for each of the highest tips to be on the front page, or at the very least cycle through them quicker, especially if there haven't been any views for a set amount of time, 24-36 hours if you ask me.

Just because it is the highest tipped doesn't mean everyone is going to have interest in them.

I guess that top section IS in a way advertising space... although it's not in the form of a sidebar ad, so it does give more of an impression of being a part of Mahalo. And of course, it would be cool to have the option of "hiding" stuff we're not interested in, although that's a feature I may never really use. But if I were the Gods of Mahalo, and wanted to grow a big, interesting, amazing, diverse, revenue-earning website with something for everyone.... I would put something in place to ensure this diversity and reduce any glut of too much of the same at the same time, to ensure that each casual person who finds the Mahalo Answers front page does not get the wrong idea of what Mahalo is, what it's about, what it's for, who's involved, and whether it will appeal to them in future or not.(I'd put the ads back on for logged in users, and give Page Managers the ability to control their ads, too... but that's another topic :).

Ahm...For me, it must be unlimmited. So that people at mahalo will be more active and exciting..To earn more money.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
