I think it should be automatic - or perhaps the belt level tests should be a private affair rather than posting all of the info in questions for all to see. I don't want to get to my brown belt test, have it all made public and have people wishing me luck and then find out that I haven't passed. Recipe for humiliation :s.
Brown Belts are not automated specifically because we use the Brown Belt as an opportunity to monitor users accounts and activity to see if they are ready for advancement in the Mahalo system. This has been the norm within the Mahalo Community since we started in December 2008. The brown belt opens up a lot of editorial abilities and we can't afford to give these abilities to every user who reaches 8000 points.
We do this to avoid vandalism, abuse and future problems on Mahalo. We also use the test to highlight quality users and provide them with a moment in the spotlight, we don't hold tests for users who don't pass.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
