The potential danger in this equation is on the professor's side of the desk. We have a higher education system that is teaching something besides the higher principles of democracy. Take a close look at some of the political science grads of today and ask yourself how well they have been schooled in socialist principles and fanatical beliefs of some warped educator who has lost their logic as to what their real job might be.
I have heard college professors advise young grads to quit any company that has not promoted them within three years of hiring them. These are people who have not worked a day in their life in the corporate world yet they can hand out advice like this on the license of their good name as a college professor. No, I would say they are not the ones who are in danger here. WB.
No, I'm not... My aunt taught at Virginia Tech and saw someone bleed to death in the hallway. 10 minutes later she saw the suspect through a window shooting several rounds into a small crowd trying to run. She said if she had a weapon she would have saved lives.
Although, the story can flip-flop. Thanks for your interpretation.
I'm in favor of teachers being armed with nonlethal weapons. There are some high schools in inner cities that no sane person would venture into. But teachers are on the front line trying to do their jobs -- sometimes against teenage thugs that have a rap sheet before they're 13.
Pepper spray is routinely mentioned. But my favorite is bear spray. The propellant shoots about 60 feet, is wicked stuff, and leaves a burning sensation that, well, will stop a bear.
Of course, liberals will cry foul. Children, even as hardened criminals, have rights. But a teacher is not only protecting herself but an entire classroom. It's unfortunate it has come to this.
But it has.
Added to the problem is the issue of personal rights and multiculturalism. Concealed weapons are allowed on some college campuses. Also, Muslim women can wear the all-concealing burqa. It will take a few more shootings before metal detectors are routinely installed in all buildings.
Not just professors should be allowed carry, but students as well.
A campus is not some special sanctuary as compared to the rest of society.
. But in schools some screening is perhaps needed. But allowing guns into class rooms by teachers may make all students come with guns and the next day we will have a war field than a class room.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
