Will Obama pass another "assault weapons ban" after Connecticut shooting?

Obama wants to renew the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban. America got along just find during that ban. But since it expired, mass shootings have skyrocketed.

As for the 2nd Amendment, nobody's got any right to assault rifles. That's just Americans perpetuating the Stupid American Stereotype. "Do not separate text from historical background.

The arms that America's Founders & Framers were referring to were muskets not assault rifles. Imagine if Americans were granted a right to wood-burning cook stoves instead of guns.

Imagine if 200+ years later, there was talk of banning certain types of microwaves ovens. Imagine if some people freaked out claiming it'd violates their right to wood-burning stoves. You'd look at those people and think they're the biggest pack of stupid losers you ever saw.

And you'd be right to think that. In the exact same way, machine guns aren't muskets. And those insisting the Constitution gives them any right to assault rifles truly are stupid losers for trying to trying to separate text from historical background and pervert/subvert the US Constitution by claiming it gives them rights it doesn't and never did.

I think you answered your own question. All the stories where people stop a shooting from happening and where they defend themselves from a burglar involved law-abiding citizens carrying a handgun. No person in their right mind would carry around an assault rifle in public, they would carry a handgun.

So there is no reason to have assault rifles. The only argument I heard for assault rifles are "for hunting" which is BS. If you want to go hunting, get a hunting rifle, why do you need a weapon that can fire lots of rounds in a short period of time, that defeats the point of giving yourself a challenge in hunting.

And the "guns for defense" argument does not work with assault rifles, only with handguns, because there is no way you can carry a concealed assault rifle without alarming people around you and people calling the police. Handguns are as far as society can go if they want to defend themselves in public. Handguns are completely ok in my eyes.

Lastly, I hope you're being sarcastic about your right to "mow down people". If not, please seek help. That's why I'm in favor of mental health screening and background checks.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
