So let's discuss what Topics should be added to the ASKVILLE Topic?

So let's discuss what Topics should be added to the ASKVILLE Topic... When you go to the Askville Topic Community (askville.amazon.com/askville/Topic.do?ta...) there are two boxes to add topics one at the top that says Also Includes: none "Include a similar topic" and one on the right side that says See Also: Askville Community "Edit topics of interest". On the Topic Bulletin Board, Leibniz's bulletin: Started a discussion like this, but instead of everyone having to spend a coin each time we want to post a bulletin, I thought it best to pose this question. So I would like to discuss what Topics should be Added and what should be Topics of Interest.

I am very concerned that if too many topics are added it will clutter up the Topic and there will be too many questions displayed under the Topic. So you can post your comments in an answer slot or in the discussion board. If you do take a slot, please answer promptly so that the discussion moves quickly.

This is so tricky I'm not even sure this feature is such a great idea! Plus, I tried to do it with the multiple spellings of the weightlifting topic and it didn't work. I keep getting the message "This topic is currently under review", even when trying to use the new superpowers.

Obviously Askville beta is precisely the same topic as Askville, so that's a no brainer. Amazon appears in many Askville topicked questions, but my feeling is, even though Askcille is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon, those topics should remain separate. Most Amazon questions are in regards to shopping, not really Askville.

Then there's all of these multiple Askville topics, like Askville features and Askville topics. Those should be merged right into the Askville topic. Others include topics, superpowers, questions (who created that one-I think that one should go away for good).

While some of those last topics may indeed be Askville related, I believe that WOULD be too many under one roof (and I'm certainly not suggesting these are ever merged with Askville). So Askville beta, Askville features and topics should certainly be there, superpowers would also be appropriate. Askville topics, while a valid topic to some degree should also go away for good.

Topics was an established topic long before someone decided to add Askville to it's name Sources: Askville .

1 So I really think this is an important discussion for us to have before we end up with a big mess (prevention is the name of the game here)... So please feel free to either answer or discuss. It will be obvious if there are cheaters that take other people's ideas and post them as an answer. Well on a personal note, it is now almost 5 am here, and I have been awake since 2, so I am going to go try to sleep an hour or two, so I'll be back later...

3 I added 'askville community' as a topic of interest for the topic 'askville' last night to see if that feature was working yet. However, that topic can also be removed, if folks think it shouldn't be under 'askville'. I also noticed that there is a misspelled 'askville community' topic in the list of topics, I don't remember how it was spelled.

Should misspelled topics be added to include questions under them? Or do we wait and hope they remove/merge them? .

4 I'd suggest at least these:askville betaaskville communityaskville featuresaskville bugsI don't think including those under the "askville" topic would create an unusual mess. Most questions in those topics are also under "askville" anyway, and IMO the topic should cover *every* question about this site.

At one point in time I heard the Askville team was supposed to be converting the old topics into the new topic tree so.

I have topics in Level 1 and 0 that have not changed...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
