What specifically gains you credit in a topic on Askville? I have topics in Level 1 and 0 that have not changed?

I have topics in Level 1 and 0 that have not changed... in a long time, even though I have both asked and answered questions that include these topics. So what's the deal here? How do I gain one experience point in, for instance, "cleaning", if answering questioins in the cleaning topic and asking questions in the cleaning topic doesn't do it?

What's the logic behind this system, because it illudes me. Asked by NanoNano 48 months ago Similar questions: specifically gains credit topic Askville topics Level changed Amazon > Askville.

It's all about the answers and their ratings. First things first - you don't get Experience Points (which I'll call EP from here on out) for asking Questions. Makes sense logically, right?

You don't earn the title as electronics whiz by asking about it - it's by explaining things well to other people Ok, now when it comes to answers there are a few things to remember: 1. ) The assignment of EP is based on what score your answer received. Here's the chart to see how many you're supposed to get: Experience Final Answer Score Points Earned Best Answer Bonus Additional 5 points 5.0 stars 15 4.5 stars 7 4.0 stars 5 3.5 stars 3 3.0 stars 1 2.5 stars 0 2.0 stars -5 1.5 stars -7 1.0 stars -10 2.) Note that even a 3-star answer only gets you 1 stinkin' point.

At that rate, it'll take a lifetime to go up a level. 3.) In order to receive your EP, the answer has to close and voting has to be completed. That can take as much as 7 full days since you answered the question.

And trust me, it's hard to remember back what you wrote 7 days ago.4.) You can check your past answers to see what kind of points you were awarded. Just do the following: Go to your My Askville page Click on the story page Now click that "Next" button above all your answers until you get to some that have been scored. Under each scored question, it'll show how many Gold you got, and then list all the topics for the question.

The EP you were awarded are in () after each topic. Now, here's what you need to know about Levels: Moving up Levels isn't always easy. You need 20 EP just to make it to Level 1.

And then getting to Level 2 requires 175 EP! That's a lot. Getting to Level 2 make take quite a few successful answers.

Here's the table to break down how you can move up in levels: # of topic Level experience points 0 0-19 1 20-174 2 175-749 3 750-1499 4 1,500-2,999 5 3,000-7,499 6 7,500-? The bottom line is that it just takes time, and regular quality answers. Before you know it you'll be climbing ranks really fast.

For some reason, ranks just seem to be like a watched pot. Here's to hoping your pots are boiling really soon!.

Here is how you get experience points You do not get any experience points for asking questions. You only get experience points for answering questions. If you answer a question that has "cleaning" as a topic then you are going to get experience points, provided your final rating is at least 3 stars.

What you can do to check what experience points you got in that specific category you can go to My Askville click on story and then on the first column from the left under your Level 0 topics (if cleaning is a Level 0 topic for you) find cleaning. Click on that and have a look at all questions that you answered in that topic to see what is going on. If "cleaning" is a Level 0 topic you are going to get 1, 3, 5, 7, and 15 experience points if your final rating for an answer in that category is 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, and 5 respectively.

If your final rating is more than 3 stars and you get the best answer you are going to get an additional 5 experience points in that topic. If your final rating is less than 2.5 stars you are going to loose experience points Paradise. You should be able to go to your My Askville page and check your totals. You only gain experience points by answering questions, not asking them. It is possible to answer questions and get no experience points if your answer received 2.5 stars or lower.

Pick a topic like Cleaning that you suspect has an inaccurate number of experience points associated with it. Go to your My Askvill page and find that topic under the appropriate level. You may have to expand the level to see all of the topics in that level.

Then click on the number that is next to that topic. That number is the number of questions you have answered that contained that topic. The page that appears will contain all of those questions and the number of experience points you earned for each question.Do you see any questions missing, or a problem with the sum of the points?

It is possible that there can be 2 different topics that look the same, like "cleaning" and "cleaning ". Do you see the extra space at the end of the second one. Askville allows this, but you can't tell the difference when a topic is selected.

Your points may be going to different topics that look the same. I hope this helps..

I am pretty certain this is the way it works.... You get a coin for asking a question, answering a question or rating a question. You also get plus or minus coins for a final answer rating. The topics value, however, is based solely upon the topics of the question and the final rating.

These topics values are subject to increases and decreases, depending upon what the topcs are on the question. At least that's the way I see it working.

It might have to do with the new system Nano - I’ve been going through the same experience as you and no doubt others have too - that nothing is changing in their ratings even though questions are being answered each and every day. For the last couple of weeks I seem to be stuck on the brink of: music 162, and I need 175 to be in Level 2. That hasn’t happened yet even though I’ve asked and answered various questions on music.

I’m thinking it might have had something to do with the lapse during the Christmas holidays and it’s taking time for Askville to get back into high gear. Other than that it just might be the gremlins at work in the BETA system, trying to add more confusion! Have you checked the FAQ section yet?

And if the Mayor can’t answer our questions, I wonder who can? Let’s hope for better days soon.

" "I think we need FEWER topics on Askville! Do you agree? " "What fun or strange Askville topic are you trying to level up in?

" "In what Askville topic or topics to you aspire to reach Level 6 in experience?" "can I create new topics on Askville? " "they have changed askville again.

I think we need FEWER topics on Askville! Do you agree?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
