However, I have known many foreigners and met heaps of others who could speak no more than a few words and key survival phrases and although the quality of their lives was severely hampered by their lack of Korean proficiency, most of them managed. Please, at the bare minimum, learn to read Hangeul.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
