Suggestions for supper/dinner?

Suggestions for supper/dinner I have a dutch apple pie, just out of the oven, cooling. I snapped 3 pounds of green beans, sliced a pound of bacon, cooked it, added some water and the green beans. They are cooking now.

I sliced up two pounds of new potatoes (the little bitty size of potatoes) and will add them to the green beans to all cook up together. So have the vegtable and startch all set for supper and disert. What about a meat?

Something really easy to fix and doesn't take long. (no roast, meatloaf, etc). Anyone got any ideas?

What sounds good to you for meat to go with the other stuff? (supper/dinner: I was raised in rural farming area, so our noon mean was dinner and the evening meal could be called supper. Other parts of the U.S. have their noon mean as dinner and their evening meal is supper.

That is why I put both workds for my meal this evening) Asked by lostmymarbles 52 months ago Similar questions: Suggestions supper dinner Food & Drink > Cooking.

Pork chops with chewy orange glaze - easy peasy. Take a shallow casserole dish and place one pork chop per person (they mustn’t be piled on top of one another). For about four pork chops, make a pint of tea with a couple of Orange Spice teabags (leave them to steep as long as possible) and then stir in the contents of a jar of marmalade - the darker and stickier the better.

Stir it up and pour it over the chops. Cook in a medium-sized oven. The aim of this dish is to have the surface of the chops all orangey and chewy, so (you sound like a good intuitive cook) I’d cover the casserole and let things cook away until 10-15 minutes before serving, and then take the lid off (and maybe turn the heat up) until the pork browns.

Ideally, the underside of the pork will be tender, but the topside will be chewy orange caramel. Check your false teeth in at the door before starting.

Pork loin! Rub it with olive oil, then smear crushed garlic all over it. Bake it with a sprig of rosemary on top -- or you can barbecue it.It's one of my favorites; in fact, I'm making it tonight!

Hmmm.... I can think of a couple things. Something not really "fancy" but simple and delicious are just hamburger patties. Mix up ground beef (or chicken or turkey, whatever you like) and add things that you normally add to make burgers.

For me that's a little grated onion, salt, pepper, worshtishire (i don't know how to spell it) sauce. Mix that up and add to a skillet with some oil and cook until they are done to how you like them. Serve that with sauteed onions and mushrooms.

Delicious! Or you could go with chicken. There are a million ways to fix chicken... you could simply bread it and fry it, you could saute it.. if you like mushrooms, this is delcious.

Saute some mushrooms, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. When it's done, put it in a food processor and pulse, just barely, it should still be very chunky. Pound some chicken breasts pretty thing or buy chicken cutlets.

Put a little of the mushroom mixture on top of each and then put some mozzarella cheese on top of that. Cook in the oven until done and top with a little more parsley. Or you could go with some type of fish... salmon is delicious.

You can mix up a pesto (i like cilantro pesto), put that on top of the slamon with salt, pepper, and thinly sliced tomatoes. Cook at 400 in the oven for 15 mins. You could heat a mixture of olive oil and butter in a pan.

Season some type of white fish (cod, flounder, trout, tilapia, etc. ) with salt, pepper, and anything else (i like thyme, rosemary, and parsley). Cook the fish in the pan until it's crispy..

Grilled Steak Your apple pie smells delicious. I can almost smell it. I would recommend a good grilled steak.

Keep it simple. I love a good ribeye well marbled and would recommend grass fed beef if you can find it as it tastes better. Here’s how I cook it.

This recipe is from GreatGrub where I posted it a while back. Start by purchasing a steak that is well marbled and evenly cut. Butchers can be lazy and an unevenly cut steak will cook unevenly.

Get you grill good and screaming hot. Rub your meat with the broken garlic cloves. All you want it for the meat to absorb some of the oil.

Discard the garlic cloves when done. Sprinkle the meat liberally with your favorite crushed peppercorns. Using tongs oil the hot grill with either paper towel and oil.

This keeps the meat from sticking to the metal. Flip the steak after about 8 minutes or when the first side is looking done. Cook until 135º F.

Basically the meat should be seared on the outside edges and nice a pink in the middle. Let the meat sit for 10 minutes on a trenched cutting board. This is a great time to finish your vegetables, toss your salad and finish your meal I don’t tent because the meat continues to cook and it will head towards medium instead of medium rare.

If you leave the thermometer in you will see that the un-tented meat will continue to cook and hit 140º F before starting to cool which is perfect. Cut into thin slices, sprinkle with salt (preferably smoked salt) and serve. I think you will have a wonderful meal if you serve this with bacon and green beans followed by your apple pie.

Oh my, can I come to dinner. My gut, no pun intended, reaction would be ham. I've had a similar meal in PA German country and oh boy was that good, filling and I keep thinking of it months later.

You don't have to bake a huge ham, either, how about ham steaks.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
