The area I grew up in did not have kindergarten.
Yep. I sure did. There were certain places in America that did not have Kindergarten.
The area where I was born was one of those places.
I hated it and wanted to be home with my motherWe took naps on rugs we brought from home, and I could never sleep. I eventually stopped going cause in those days you didn't HAVE to go , so I got a reprieve for another year! .
Lucky! We had no choice but to go..It was a half day.. ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
Wow, could not remember anything at all! Maybe later...
Okay,, dig deep! :) ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
Oh wait...I did not attend Kindergarten at all, straight to 1st grade.
Pencils weren't invented yet. My teacher was Barney Rubble. I was barefoot.
:-) .
LOL! Boy that sounds familiar! :) ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
I had to wait until reading lesson was done before I could make a dinosaur out of clay. I loved the cookies and milk, and asked for seconds, which I didn't get. I lost one of my gloves on the way home.
No, and was my Mother upset! She had just bought them expressly for school.
I don't blame her,,Thank God for the dollar store. I can stock up on gloves for the little guy..What does he do between home and school,,eat them? ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
I didn't go to kindergarten. My mom and my sisters taught me at home when I was little but I remember I had to take a test so that I could be admitted to first grade. I spent one full day with the kindergarten class while I was being tested.
I remember there were a few disorderly boys and the teacher pulled one by the ear and made him sit down. I thought this was hilarious and I knew right then that school was going to be fun and I didn't want to go home. I could not wait to start grade school and be with those kids again.
I also remember playing with my Hot Wheels Cars at lunchtime.
Wow ChainofThought you got to experience the best of both worlds! You must of had a blast when you finally got the chance to go to school LOL I could just see it now,,all your excitement.. COOL! :) ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
OMG! That is an awesome song to post! The perfect answer too!
LOL Wow! Thank you! :) ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
I don't remember too much. I dropped out half way through.
Ok, seriously, I really did only attend half a year. We moved during the school year and where we moved to only had public school kindergarten. My mom called them and for some reason they said I did not have to finish. It really looks bad on my resume.
One thing I do remember were the cookies. They were iced, rectangular shaped oatmeal raisin cookies. I also do remember playing house and a bit about learning to tell time.It is all very vague.
Sorry to hear that ,,kindergarten was so much fun :) ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
I can remember things about Nursery school when I was three. Like a little girl had a new gold watch. The smell of Rubber cement and cutting pictures out of a magazine and pasting them onto a card with the Rubber cement brush for my mom for mother's day.
I remember the big oval window in the front door of one Nursery school, called Love's Day Nursery. I went to three different Nursery schools and that one was my favorite. I remember one little boy didn't make it to the bathroom on time.
I don't remember a lot about Kindergarten except singing 'Up On The Housetop' at Christmas. Ah, those were the days.
LOL, I still remember all the smells..boy you ain't kidding when you say those were the days.. :) Gotta run the kids are getting home from school now. Thank you for all your incredible comments :) ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
Pounding nails into a block of woodMy mom traumatizing me before I left for school so I'd walk out in tears. The teacher's talking bird (she had a minah bird) that creeped me out because BIRDS DON'T KNOW ENGLISH! .
Oh, and my teacher was Mrs. Rohr, whom I later threw newspapers to.
Standing in a circle with other kids and teacher singing "bluebird on your shoulder" as she touched each of our shoulders. Threading colored wooden beads onto a string. The smell of Crayola crayons.
Oh Yes! I remember Blue Bird on your shoulder wow! Thank you for the memory :) ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
Being put in a corner for skipping around the room, getting the nickname "motormouth" and having tape pu across my mouth for talking out of turn....."Oh the humanity........" .
So you were a happy go lucky child and the teacher couldn't handle it...sorry to hear that.. ArabianKnightress 11 months ago .
I remember quite a bit, I loved Kindergarten. :)1. My teachers name was Miss Usher.2.My mother put my hair in pigtails every day.3.
I had a stuffed animal named Harvey who I brought to school with me every day. My teacher told me I couldn't bring him anymore :( so we had a graduation party for him and my mother baked cupcakes for the entire class.
OMG how cute! The things that mothers do :) Just warms my heart.. ArabianKnightress 10 months ago .
I remember having little mats or rugs that each kid brought from home to sleep on during nap time, and the cookies and milk we had for snacktime. I also remember having silhouettes made where the teacher traced a shadow of our facial profile on black paper which was then cut out and pasted onto white paper. I also remember that I won the skipping contest and was voted the best skipper in my class!
I did not do well with scissors though, having to use right-handed scissors although I was left-handed. I remember this kid whose name I thought was really funny - Salvador Shanklapor! My teacher's name was Mrs. Blackwell, although we called her Mrs. Inkwell behind her back (it seemed funny then!).
I remember learning to read and that the first book I read all by myself was about the Berenstain Bears. Mostly, I remember kindergarten as being really fun!
Thank you for sharing that with us loverofbooks :) ArabianKnightress 10 months ago .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
